Someone go ahead and answer this for me! You shooting those expensive shells at dove too? Nah, not when you can use lead!.. I do shoot a 20 gauge typically though. I think I'm going to take my dad's Smith and Wesson 1000 out this year for teal though and shoot some boss#7 if they have it. If not, I'll shoot #6.

16ga Boss came out with some 16 gauge. They said with those old guns with fixed full choke barrels are throwing absolutely cynical patterns at 40 and 50 yards.

well i'm going 12 ga and got some RIO Texas Game Load to try. Dove season is for using up old shells. I am dumping all my partial boxes in a bucket, so it will be pot luck. Any brand, #6 to #9. They all kill.

They all kill. True, but I'm bored and had enough of this dang heat. Just trying to spark conversation. May have to bust out a debate on if BC is the best shell for duck hunting ever made next.

I would be trying boss this year if academy sold them. Last year I switched to heavy metal. Before that it was the cheap Winchester shells. Depending on what shells are available when duck season comes around I hope to be shooting heavy metal.
As it is right now my academy has very little in shotgun shells. Even the high dollar black clouds, heavy shot are out of stock.

You can also call their shop and you can order split cases, etc. Plus, when you buy a case, you get a money bag, and that's at least a $25 waxed canvas bag.

I'm going to use all my 20 ga shells up first, but then I'm going to try the switch over to Boss. I want to support their imitative and leadership. If more non tox shot can help then I want to try. Gonna best more pricey for sure, but...oh well, like I heard one of their guys say on a podcast, "when has cheap (in anything I took it) ever been the best option?" Tough though, shell cost can sure add up. But then as they say across the board in the hunting world, shells are (usually/often) the least expensive part of what we do.

20 ga Rio high brass #6 12 ga AA Super Sport #7.5
Silver spurs and gold tequila keep me hanging on. Pretty girls and old cantinas give me shelter from the storm.

I found Federal 1/18 oz shells for $19.56/100 at Walmart. Not at every Walmart. Another one had them for $21.78. No idea why.

I'm going with my current hand load -
7/8 oz. no. 8s at 1300 fps in a Remington hull. This is a 12 gauge load. I'll shoot anything from .410 up but I've got a new field gun I want to try.
shotshell calculator says $4.48 per box.
