Looking at a 2018+ model 4 X 4 pickup. Either a Tacoma or GMC Canyon. Which do you feel is the better of the two? Pros and Cons? (Side note don't care for Fords and don't trust Dodges)

Agree. Out of any midsize pickup the Tacoma is the one to beat. Only the Toyota Landcruiser is a superior machine offroad, but good luck finding them stateside.
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Not even a contest. Read the reviews on the Colorado and Canyon. Tacomas are beasts off road and best durability and resale. I got in a mudhole in Fannin county a few years back. I could not even open driver door. I thought i was walking out. Put it in 4 lo, engaged the locker and gave it the gas. It came right out. Anyone who have driven those dirt roads up there in or after a hard rain knows they will get stuck at some point. Definitely get the TRD OR.

I'm suprised at the level of agreement with the question "which 4x4 truck is best". I figured this question would have been an all out war! Lol. OP, you narrowed it down too much to get a good fight going!

I put 250K on my Tacoma, used the he-- out of it and it never let me down. Only time I broke down was when I punched a hole in my radiator, my bad. Brakes, u-joint, never missed an oil change, got like $8,000.00 for it. My needs changed when I got an ATV and now I drive a new Full size 4DR F-150 with a factory off road package. No way my current ride would go a lot of the places the Tacoma would, but that's where the Honda Foreman steps in.
Get the Tacoma. Don't lift it, just go with the tallest tires you can get away with. Hands down the most dependable vehicle I ever owned.
An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.

OP, you narrowed it down too much to get a good fight going! Cause only the knowledgeable chimed in. Toyota set the bar with the Tacoma. I would haves loved to still have mine for a run-about

I know you said ‘18+ but I’d look for a low mileage ‘14 or ‘15 TRD Off Road. Those were the last two year models with the 4.0 V6.

I noticed a Gladiator already on a used car lot today. 'Doubt you're going to see Mexico nationals towing Gladiators they bought at auction back to Mexico in 15 years, like you see old Tacomas being drug down there today, to be resurrected for many more years of life. .

I had a bad experience with my 2018 Tacoma. Really bad rear differential leak was detected after 9k miles. Leaked so bad that brake and other components were damaged as well. Long story short it was all was fixed under warranty ( but I didn't know how long it ran 2 pints low on diff fluid so I sold her off. Ended up with a Jeep Gladiator for a bit more off road capability.
