Im not one to start a rumor on any topic and certainly not one like this. My very best friend knows the wife of a county judge and he THINKS Abbott is announcing tomorrow(7-15) that Texas shutting down again in a few days. I did not post this in any attempt to start another debate about if this is justified or not. I am merely putting it out there as FYI. I certainly hope someone can confirm that it is not true. Also, no idea what "shutting down" may exactly mean this time around so maybe there is some hope there.

I have heard this rumor spreading through LEO, FD and EMT as well. Also heard this from a county judge (not my county). Apparently it has more to do with getting kids back in school sooner rather than later. We'll see - just a rumor.....

It will be useless to shutdown. Non compliance rate is off the scale and a shutdown will not help with compliance. Roll the dice, shuffle the cards and play your jacks where they fall.

I started hearing this yesterday. Heard just as vigorous if not more than the first one and thirty days.

Hope not.

If it guarantees the kiddos will ALL be back in the classrooms this fall then I'm for it, but only in that circumstance. You just know it's coming!

I will say this, if we shut down again, there will be wide spread civil disobedience. Count on it.

This will not be pretty IF it does happen and it will not be the legacy Abbott wants to leave with. bang

Our schools are already planning for kids to be there. Something big would have to happen to prevent that.

Too bad he can't shut down the "peaceful protests" for the same time period.

I've been expecting it. 'Hope I can get on a plane next week, but always knew there was a chance I won't be able to.

I just now remembered I was with a very good friend on Friday and he owns several restaurants. He got an email just then from the Restaurant Association(they are big) and they said they did not expect the restaurants to shut down(it had been heavily rumored.)

I hope you are right!! We cant keep doing this. There is no end in sight to this virus, no signs its going away, and no vaccine to combat it. Time to learn to live with it and not crawl back in our holes every time the media and our governors say we need to. I heard today there are almost 5million active cases world wide with only 1% being critical. Of that 1% not all of them will die. So for an overall death rate that stands at less than 1% world wide (including third world countries) we continue to strangle the greatest country in the world. Unfreaking believable!!!

I have already had enough of stores telling us to spread out but then they close down all but one entry/exit point and funnel everyone through that single point. Whos bright idea was that??

I hope and pray Abbot doesn’t do this again. It is worthless IMHO and is wrong on so many levels

It’s going to piss off a lot of people. There’s nothing good that comes from it. Nothing.

Easy driving for us essentials, and....that’s about it.

I hear ya, but that’s a sign of a crippled economy.

How many businesses have you seen shut down because they had an employee test positive? Have these businesses sanitized their facilty after a positive test? The liability issues could be very high. In Abilene I know of 3, 2 of which are restaurants. the third was not named..

I haven’t heard this rumor through any first responders and I’m also in Parker county. Maybe I’m antisocial among my colleagues lol.

with a 99.5 survival rate and a large number of positive tested not having any symptoms no one is swallowing the fear mongering.
