On Sunday evening I invited my son and his wife over for dinner. I wanted to try some new recipes that I had never tried before. My guests were invited to serve as guinea pig taste testers.

The first new idea to me was a cross between Scalloped Potatoes and Fondant Potatoes. I cooked the potatoes like Fondant Potatoes but used a cream and gruyere cheese sauce instead of chicken stock.

I caught America's Test Kitchen episode recently to get the idea for Monroe County Kentucky BBQ Pork Chops. Basically it is grilled seasoned pork chops that is bathed in a seasoned browned butter vinegar sauce.

Finally from Facebook I cooked a Korean Inspired Zucchini Stir Fry.

An arugula, watermelon, blue cheese salad dressed with balsamic vinegar completed the meal.

No one called in sick this morning, and I had very few leftovers. I think the meal was a success.

We have been trying to cook one new meal for dinner a week. Have found several that we really like, crawfish etoufee was a huge hit lately, some kind of tortilla soup conglomeration my wife found on face book was good. I find it difficult though, because i have small kids and the wife was raised on a bland meat and potatoes diet and none of them are willing to try much out on a limb.
