Yeah, here too. My wife developed a beef allergy a few years ago. The doc seems to think she got bit by a tick which ingested an enzyme and left her with a durn allergy to the most prevalent, utilized & tasty meat source in all o' TX. They used to giver a pill and that didn't work real well. Really has changed my eating habits, kinda akin to that there Patty Hearst syndrome.

I won’t eat chicken spaghetti, I don’t care who makes it. On the group dove hunt last year, the guide served chicken spaghetti and French bread. I ate half the French bread barf

Really not too much bad she makes.
She does have a propensity to overcook meat- especially pork- until it dries out.
Occasionally, she will try a recipe from a magazine or something but those usually don't get repeated.
She is prone to take a recipe and "swap out" or "supplement" the listed ingredients- usually with disastrous results.
I have learned, over the years, not to complain or not to go on too much about it. If you complain, no bueno and if you go on about it you'll have the same thing every week until you can't stand it anymore.

My wife is a great cook and baker. However, I don’t know that she makes a bad dish, but I don’t like some of them, and everyone else brags about how good it is. She makes a couple of casserole dishes I won’t eat, I don’t eat any casseroles no matter what. Bread Pudding is another thing she gets requests for to make that I can’t stand.

I'm ready for a new list about the great dishes your wives make.

My wife is a fantastic cook. I have the spare tire to show her receipts off.

My wife is a good cook but she's very picky about what she eats. It's rubbed off on my kids which I hate. So even when she tries something new, it tastes just like something old. I need variety.

When I run to the store for something I'm famous for picking up all kinds of other stuff that "looks good". That doesn't always go over very well. But I like cooking and trying different things or at least the same things in different ways.

My wife has always had a flair and talent for cooking. We're talking gourmet stuff here.

There are no worst dishes. If she has one that disappoints, it does not come back.

Tonight was smoked meatloaf...don't knock it till you try it

smoked meatloaf can be delicious.

My wife is a pretty good cook and is good at coming up with new recipes. I wouldn't say there's really any dish that I just wouldn't eat. She cooks it, and i'll eat it.

There's one pasta dish she makes that has the shell pasta, some sort of red sauce, pan sausage, corn, and a bunch of other stuff, but the cheese that gets added to it will absolutely ruin it. Not sure what cheese it is, but the aftertaste is almost non-edible. Last go around i made her leave the cheese out and it was pretty good.

We've recently started consuming much less carbs and there was this cauliflower casserole she made....nope! Can't do cauliflower.

During our early years I learned not to ask my wife when supper would be ready. Yes, that's one of those many things you learn as a young husband to avoid. I soon learned that if she was hungry, it wouldn't be long so I just stared asking her that. If she said no, I knew it might be a while.

Hamburger Helper Beef Stroganoff and generally any pasta dish. She overcooks the noodles and they are basically mush. She also refuses to salt the pasta water.

Thanks,
Rich

I experienced an epic failure of lemon meringue pie from a girlfriend. She was a country girl and did a lot of cooking from scratch. Well, she spent hours in the kitchen whipping up this lemon meringue pie. After supper she cuts me a big piece of pie and I have to admit it looked like something you'd see in a magazine. Just beautiful. I took a bite of it and it literally locked my jaw up. I sat there, not saying a word and waited for her to take a bite. I was really relieved when she made this awful face and blurted out "That's terrible." If she had liked it, I would've had to eat the whole darn thing. The only thing we could figure out was that she switched the quantities of salt and sugar. Instead of a tablespoon of salt and 2 cups of sugar, she used a tablespoon of sugar and 2 cups of salt. The world's most beautiful lemon meringue pie went in the trash.

My Mother did that more than once. She was the worst cook I'd ever had. She deep fried everything, and overcooked it. She made great mashed potatoes, that was it. Probably why my Dad died at 69 with a heart attack, due to all the fried shoe leather. The wife and I would usually eat before we went there for Sunday dinner.

I’m the Chef, she’s my Sous Chef. We work well together. She can bake though. Her key lime pie is to die for. I had to ban her from salting dishes though. A few years ago her salt tasting ability went south. She will over salt to an inedible level.
