So a couple months back I got a catfish barb stuck in my hand. Required an ER visit to pull out. Fast forward til now, my hand is still tinder when I put any pressure. Should I just come to the realization that I will have to live with this the rest of my life? Or go see a specialist?

I stepped on one and ran it all the way through my shoe and out the top right through the middle of my foot. Although it didn’t require an ER visit it did hurt like hell. If it’s still sore you should get it checked out, there may be some real damage. Or quit being a puss. Either way. Lol

Keep the wound clean. Gob it up with neosporin, campophenic or the like. You can either choose to visit a med clinic now or wait and see if an infection starts out. Do no mess with or ignore infections,. Been there, done that, saw a nurse nearly faint and fresh doctor get real excited. Never knew that gave you intraveinous antibiotics before, but I guess it makes sense.

You need to get it opened back up, and cleaned out again. Something is still in there, and your body is trying th get it out. You dont want the infection to get into bone, that's bad news. Go back to the Doc.

Two months should of been plenty of time to heal.

Drink a shot of whiskey every 10 mins until pain subsides. Repeat as needed.

My buddy had that happen to one of his fingers. It’s been years ago , once in a while his finger swells up and gives him lots of pain for a few days then it stops.

if only ben had known that wisdom prior to it getting infected.

Same happened when I was little while watching family members pulling in a big net on the gulf coast. I was barefoot and stepped on something then pulled my foot up and there was a small catfish wiggling around on the bottom of my foot. It didnt hurt until later that night when it swelled up. When the pain kicked in it was enough to get a trip to the emergency room.

I'm proud of how you have endured pain and pus for a couple of months now. I think you're ready for the dirt rub therapy.
