I have a friend who is looking for a set of tires that will stand up to west Texas use. I run Essex and have never had a problem with them. He says that Essex tires are not available and asked me to check around for him to see if there is anything as tough as the Essex Kevlar's are? Thanks in advance.

I just dropped off a flat at my tire shop and the guy said he has two customers with Essex tires on order, but their website says the owner has some health issues and the daughter is trying to fill orders, but is overwhelmed. I just thought about them today and will be watching this thread.

I'm running the standard 27" mudlites with green slime in West Texas with no issues at all. This will be my forth year running these with zero flats in cactus and mesquite

Check out the K9 Supergrip Canine. I don't have personal experience with them, but I've talked with a few guys that run 'em and they love them. They said they haven't had a flat yet and have been in some nasty stuff. The K9 Supergrip Canine has the same tread pattern as the Maxxis Carnivores (which i have had a set of the carnivores) and that tread is flat out awesome. Great in rocks, sand, hard pack, and suprisingly pretty good in mud, especially for an AT style tire. Check These Out

Just don't drive over greasewood You just got to swerve more so your back tires crunch new stuff, and side walls don’t get stuck by the stuff front tires broke. At least that’s what an olddddd timerrrrr told me.

I have run cheapo factory type UTV tires on my places here in Goliad and Live Oak county and then for the last 9 yrs in the Trans Pecos on our lease. I run Carlisle on my 2014 Ranger from the factory and Maxxis now(factory take offs I bought off of Craiglist for $160 for set of 4). I keep a mushroom and string plug kit and 12 volt pump in the Ranger all the time. I put Multi-seal in my tires when I got them new. I have flats from greasewood and mesquite that most are sealed with the multiseal. With my current tires I have 4 plugs in them now and that is from 2 yrs. 2 were from thorns/cut stumps here or greasewood/mesquite at the lease. I have a friend who has STI Roctanes in 10 ply and he still has gotten 2 flats in West Texas in the last 4 yrs. They are quite a bit heavier than normal ply tires and he had to do some front-end work on his Kubota RTV after the second year with the Roctanes. We had one guy run the Essex tires out there for 2 yrs and he ruined one tire on a dead stump of some kind.
Are idiots multiplying faster than normal people?

I have the 8 ply rocktanes in the rear on mine and I've been pretty happy with them so far. They are better than the Maxxis Bighorn 2.0's but still not puncture proof.

I let Dave loose with mine for 3-4 days out west, he didn’t get a flat so I’d highly recommend the Motoclaw’s. With that said I do have ultraseal in mine.

I'm still running on original tires that came on all new Mules, They are over 10 years old, I have them filled with regular ol green Slime. Every tire probably has at least one plug in it but they all still hold air. I have a new set I bought off here a couple of years ago, I think I'm gonna fill them with slime and put them on before this season though. I would love to get a set of ESSEX but have something else to spend money on anytime I get a little extra and these haven't failed me in any way (wish they were a little better in mud). Anyone that knows me, knows that I don't go around anything I can go over or through.
Haven't had it in years but never spit any out. I am a sucker for happy endings and strapped cowboys.

I've mentioned this on the forum before, but I am running the stocker tires on my 2014 Mule. My place is covered in mesquite and several flats early on until I Slimed. I also have lots of scorpions, so I bought a UV flashlight to use when scouting for crawlies in my shop. One night I happened to shine the light on the Mule, and the tires were covered in little green dots glowing in the dark. Yep, Slime glows in UV lighting - and appears to be doing a good job sealing the hundreds of punctures in these tires. Guess I will keep running them until the tread is gone or they won't hold air.

I live in the middle of Mesquite country and have had good luck with these Wandas on my 3010 4x4 Mule. They are only 4 ply but have lived amazingly well and I have fields of mesquites. I put a pint of Slime in each one when new and it's used daily on my small ranch doing everything from building fence, hauling corn, feed, hay or firewood to just joyriding. I think the single biggest thing that makes these live is the load rating. These are rated at 1000 pounds per tire whereas most UTV tires are less.

Word is Essex went bankrupt - I have used their Kevlar tires for years down south with great results but looks like they are no longer available Only time I ever had to replace an Essex was when a staub went through the sidewall - otherwise performed in bad [censored] condtions So I am now looking for the next best thing

I put these on a Yamaha Wolverine I use to do volunteer work in the RGV: https://www.tractiondepots.com/product/rp-spartan-utv-run-flat-tires/ ^^^^That's what they look like brand new with the valve cores removed. Though I wouldn't want to run them flat any longer than I had to, the idea was to not let a cut tire leave me stranded somewhere. When I wear out the factory tires on my Mule, the Spartans will probably be the replacement.

I run factory Duros on my 2017 mule. Tehy seem to be holding up well to Carta Valley rock, cactus and anythig else that sticks. The rock is wearing them down some but I don't think any tire is immune to that

I ran the stock Duro's on my mule for 3 years and they were fine. I filled them with TireJect and they held up well out in Llano. We have a lot of rock and thorns. Only thing that punctured one was running over a shed.
I have the ITP Blackwater Evolutions on there now. Haven't really put them to the test yet. They are rough as hell on the pavement though. I'll probably trade them out after hunting season. You have to get it up to about 15 MPH on the pavement or it'll vibrate your fillings out.
Those run flats look interesting.

Those run flats look interesting. They are made out of Kevlar - same as law enforcement vest - we are in some rough country and I have used them for years - problem is you cannot get them right now

I'm a big fan of GBC Dirt Devil tires, have had great luck with them in the mesquite/brush country. 6 ply and super seal (or slime). They're tuff tires and do great in the mud.
