I am long way from being a hard core prepper, but I like to think I have a reasonable level of awareness and a sensible level of preparedness. It took my wife of 15 years quite a while to start to come around. First 8-10 years, she wrote it off as a low level of craziness. A few years back the light-bulb started to glow, but dimly. When Covid panic buying started, she was amazed that we had things that stores were out of. She wanted masks when there were none...OK, we have some stashed away, but make each one last a week before you get a new one. She was in awe. smile

Well, she became obsessed with finding hand sanitizer in the stores. A little Everclear and glycerin worked well for me, but her search continued. She found the stuff made by a local tequila distillery a couple of weeks ago...smelled pretty bad.

Today she comes in from the store and declares success, produces two quart size pump bottle of GERM-X, her preferred brand. I stopped her from opening them and declared "You have to remember to rotate", then I pulled out two of four bottles from storage to swap out with her new ones. SHE IS PISSED and accusing me of holding out on her. I just replied that I was saving that for something more serious than the flu....seems that comment did not help my case smile

...but she never asked me for hand sanitizer, all the complaining was that she could not find it in stores.

When should I tell her about the 409 out in the garage or the TP stashed in the attic?

That depends on where she lies on the hot crazy matrix. I would probably just burn it and never mention it. roflmao

There is no way not to laugh at this. peep

Since I travel a lot for work (or used to), I have taken pains to show were where stuff is stored, walked her through what should be rotated, where the go-bags are if she needs to haul A55, what to take if she has a little time to, what she can run on the generator, and that kind of stuff.

Her attention is focused now. I'm betting she spends at least a couple of hours this evening looking in every nook and cranny in the house.

That's a great story.
It all seems crazy until it doesn't.

The only thing that caught me off guard was the Clorox wipes. We are not running too low at the office, but I normally keep more than we have on hand.
