Tons of rats, mice and hunt-able quail numbers. Last year and this winter was the highest number of rats and mice I have seen here. I had them bad in the barn and took a while to get ahead of them. Rabbit numbers were down a little with the drier period last fall and into this spring but have now rebounded back with late rains. I am seeing 4-5 in my front yard everyday and almost all day. Have a pair of quail hanging around the yard again...after being absent for over a year. I have been shredding food plots and seeing a lot of rats and mice in the grass/weeds this week. The food base is here for rattlesnakes and all snakes...I just think with the lack of good den sites(cactus with rat dens, brushpiles, etc) and all the indigo/bullsnakes that they are kept in check. This area was more wide open, grassy cattle pastures with scattered large Live Oaks/mottes back years ago..so I think that may have been part of the reason for less rattlesnakes also. My neighbors credits the hogs for killing the snakes...so he does not like to kill the hogs....I kill everyone I see and have for 8 yrs. and we still do not have that many rattlesnakes grin

Big one for sure. No first hand knowledge of your area but would of thought you would have a bunch of em. You think its site specific for your place cause of the snakes you mentioned and habitat or is it just that part of the world? Anywhere around the state I have hunted(mostly south and all areas west) I have always seen a good many. My first experience spending time in Okla last year and I saw a timber rattler that was that big or bigger. I knew little about them so I googled and it said they are usually smaller than diamond backs. I have heard contrary to that since then. He was as big or bigger than any diamond back I have ever seen.
