What a tragedy for the family.

(Preliminary information shows that the child had gotten out of an enclosed yard unbeknownst to family members and walked down a gravel road. The dog, believed to be a pit bull, was in his yard, which was enclosed by a four-foot chain link fence. However, the dog was able to get out of the yard and attacked the infant in the roadway.)

That breed needs to be wiped off the face of the earth. I don't want to hear about "how they're raised" or "my pit is just a loving, friendly member of the family". Anyone who thinks pit bulls are anything other than vicious killers is delusional.

How old is still considered an infant?

I'm surprised no one has blamed the baby yet. This breed of dog should be shot on sight.

4' chain link is nothing for a pit bull to clear. My aunt raised them. She had a big black male. He could jump 6' easily. Neighbor called the cops once aaid they had a bear. The pit would jump up in the air to see over their 6' fence. Neighbor saw the big black head and thought it was a bear standing

There’s pit owners that swear they are as gentle as a baby but I’ve never trusted a pit. I’m always on guard around those things

Someone dumped a pit bull out here in the country (dumping dogs is common here). I was on the tractor and the dog ran up growling and trying to get up on the tractor. I always carry a .22 pistol when tractoring as rattlesnake medicine. The dog dropped straight down after one shot between the eyes. If I was on foot or unarmed that dog might have killed me.
