Was it tied by the back leg when you shot it? That's the zip tie with the tag you are seeing.

Mine is a .30-06 Remington 740 with 2x7 Burris. I have a .30-30 but hardly use it anymore.

On another note I would never take a lever if there was any chance of a shot over 100 yards. They have their place.
Why not? I've shot more than a few whitetail deer past a hundred yards with no problems. So have many others for many years. The cheapest green and yellow box Remington 150 grain 30/30 ammo shows 1606 fps with 859 ft lbs of energy at 200 yards I've yet to see the whitetail that that wasn't enough for I've also used a 308 BLR . Surely that's enough

Surely that's enough I wasn’t saying it’s not a good rifle in the right caliber, in the right hands. I don’t own a 30-30 or a 308 in lever action, nor have I shot one accurate enough to shoot at extended ranges. I could probably get the 35 Remington out there, but the 45 Colt is a no go past 100.

When I bought my place (which is 95% wooded and all shot come under 75 yards) I switched to my Glenfield 30A in 30-30. When I hunted cut bean and corn fields I used a Czech Mauser in 30.06
