Just broken. Whether it was in a fight or by other circumstance isn't obvious from the pic. Definitely not much of an indicator of age beyond saying it was an adult. The whetters and cutters are everygrowing canine teeth, and so wear is not an indicator of age as it could be with the cheek teeth. If you had a good picture of the cheek teeth, particularly of the jaw, getting an approximate age would be possible. He may be quite old...or not.
