Forrest Fenn, 89, told the Santa Fe New Mexican on Sunday that a man who did not want his name released — but was from “back East” — located the chest a few days ago and the discovery was confirmed by a photograph the man sent him.

IT was depressing news to wake up to. Im happy for the guy that found it, but sad for me. Ive done a lot research in the last two years. Had several solves I was supposed to check out this summer but didn't go with everything shut down. Havent heard where it was found yet but my solves were around Yellowstone.

Had several solves I was supposed to check out this summer but didn't go with everything shut down. Havent heard where it was found yet but my solves were around Yellowstone. Bittersweet for sure. I have been on it for about 2 years as well, read the books etc. my solve was in NM and planned a detour on our vacation next month to Durango for a quick search, but deep down, I felt like it was probably in wy/Montana border area. Can’t wait to hear the solve and really hoping someone makes a movie.

Forrest Fenn is an interesting guy and had a plan when he inspired thousands to go hunt for a hidden treasure. I wish they would tell where it was found and how the person that found it worked the clues. I doubt he went out the first time and found it. I'm sure there is a good story there but also the 1000's of people who searched want to know if they were close.
