Have multiple pics and sightings of this boar on our place in Navarro county. Has an ear tag and serious inflammation of some kind under the neck/throat. Snake bite? Or ?

Sure looks bad. Put it out of its misery soon.

Might be a big tumor, i think a snake bite to do that would have more flesh rot.

Agreed. That and while pigs are not 'immune' to snake bites...they are amazingly tolerate/resilient of them.

We shoot every pig we can on this place and never make a dent. This one will be no exception, gonna be a little tougher now though with the summer heat setting in they really go nocturnal.

You need to be the one to shoot it...then we'll call you Pig_Pimple_Popper

What I learned from Flintknapper is that when you find something like that on a hog, you don't want to lance it.

I was thinking lance it with a .22 lr or .22 mag from a distance.

Exactly what I was thinking too! Maxi mag hollow point from the side.
Haven't had it in years but never spit any out.

Sent the pics to a vet buddy of mine. Abscess or tumor was her guess. She said to cut it open and find out. Full of puss, abscess. Full of tissue and maybe fluid pockets, tumor.
Oh, and she suggested wearing gloves.

Sounds like a good occasion for eye protection and a good-quality mask, as well!

Well I've only seen him once (aside from trail cam pics) and it was while working on clearing roads and of coarse, no gun handy.
He will receive an injection of copper shrouded lead upon the first opportunity.

I would allow the buzzards to do the pathology work on that one. I'm interested, but not THAT interested!
