 Good resource(s) for AR build beginners?

I am interested in building an AR. What I want to build is TBD but sounds like a fun project and believe I am fully capable. Can anyone recommend some good resources to learn the basics and tools needed,as well as possibly outline the quality/value of all the different brands/parts that are available? I'm not looking to break the bank but don't want bottom of the barrel either. Given what I currently have in the safe, I am thinking 6.8 SPC would be a good addition to the collection, if that is of any help.

Not much help on the build from me, 6.8 SPC is a good round for hunting as are a few other cartridges. I really like the 6.5 Grendel and Hornady stepped into the AR Cartridge this week with finally announcing their 6mm ARC a "new" AR15 cartridge there is another thread about it now.

Google pewpewtactical.com "How to build an AR-15 Lower Receiver" and then upper receiver. I've not found any online that I like better....but realize there are things on there like bedding the barrel that they don't cover that some folks do. You can run through YouTube and there are some good videos there too.

Brownells has some basic videos
I am still looking for the perfect apron, one with reinforced knee areas would be perfect. Some people live an entire lifetime & wonder if they ever made a difference in the world, a veteran doesn't have that problem. Reagan

Brownells has some basic videos Thats the ones I used when I was learning. If there is anything in those videos you still have questions about just try to find a video on You Tube about it. There is enough free videos out there on the subject that you can learn everything you need to know without spending a dime. My best advice is don't dive into the build until you have watched hours of videos on the subject. You may think you have it figured out after one video but the more you watch the more you will learn all the little tricks to getting things done right the first time.

School of the American Rifle on Facebook has some of the most well thought out and well-explained videos on how to gauge parts and what to look for in components. He doesn't dive into the build process itself on the posted videos, but he is an awesome resource as you select what parts you want to use.

Question: how much does it cost to have a gunsmith assemble an upper?
I'm also considering building one, but I'm thinking it might be better to just pay someone to do it for me. I don't have the tools and we're only talking about one or two uppers.

I believe RifleGear is still under $50 to build an upper with very fast turnaround. They are about to move into the new location
