In Texas, yes you can. The law is very clear on this. Your home, extension of your home (vehicles), your business, or a property under your control. It all boils down to yes by law it is legal to do so, but should I? You can be sued civilly for anything and if you win, you are still more than likely to be out tens of thousands of dollars in legal fees. Whole lot of folks on here have said in the past that they would never shoot someone over property, they would just turn their cheek and let them take whatever they wanted. As for me, if someone tries to loot/burn down my home or business I will not hesitate to shoot them, law suits be damned. Not tuff guy talk, just a fact. Stand your ground. I almost shot a burgler one night trying to break into my business, thank God he did what I told him and dropped the pry bar and stopped advancing towards me. One more step and he would have been killed. These riots are a totally different situation with state of emergencies being declared. The only thing that will stop these violent anarchists are good guys willing to meet these thugs with violence.
