Penal Code is pretty clear on what you can shoot someone for.

Nailed it. I can't stand before the God that saved me and explain why I killed someone because they stole something. I did plenty of stupid things in life myself.

You ain't lying! My Grandparents were broken into once. The burglar wasn't able to get everything he wanted, namely the safe. My grandfather saw a car up the road, so he told my grandmother to leave with her friend. Sure enough the guy breaks into the house for a second time. My grandfather a retired Sargent with SAPD let him break into the house and held him at gunpoint. The guy attacked my grandfather as they walked out the house, they struggled over the gun. They perp bit my grandfather on his chest. And managed to get away. A county deputy caught up to the guy, and a chase ensued, the deputy lost control and died in the wreck. Now a deputy is dead, and my grandfather could of also been killed. This could of all been avoided if my grandfather would of just shot the guy when he broke in.......
