OP, it seems you keep talking yourself into the Versa and there is nothing wrong with that. It's almost as if one person would vote Versa, you would say Ok, that's what I'm getting. I'm sure BPS can do a store to store transfer to get the $699 price. Not at all.. As I said, I still want to check into the Benelli M2 further before a final decision. The only reason Versamax keeps coming up is simply because they are on sale for a hell of a deal right now. I wrote down every gun everyone mentioned here and checked them out today. Out of all mentioned (aside from the Versa), the M2 was my favorite. But again, it comes back to the fact that I can get a gun chambered for 3 1/2 right now for $699. If one of the Benelli's was at $699 right now then I'd be all over it as well I don't want any of you to think that I'm "not hearing what I want to hear." I'm very happy the M2 Benelli was mentioned and it's gonna be one hell of a choice!

I had owned a Benelli M2 before and should have never switched to Versa Max. Sold the Versamax and went with Benelli. Less parts to clean... sure but the fit was perfect for me. Unfortunately I am selling mine in the classifieds right now because of the financial strain all this mess has our country in. When I can buy again it might be an old 1100 Remington or if affordable another SBE2. Not found of the Vinci or SBE3 though. M2's if you are only going to shoot 3 inch... SBE2 if you are going to shoot 3 and a half inch. I wouldn't buy another Versa Max though.

Find an older used Beretta 390, 391, Pintail, or Benelli M2. Remington couldn’t pay me to shoot their modern shotguns.

Its amazing that there are so few Versamax fans on the forum. I bought one for my son several years ago, and it has been flawless. He has shot dove, quail, geese, crane, skeet, and who knows what else without one issue. My guess is well over 2000 shells from 2.75" cheap to 3.5", sometimes in the same series when he has a quail load while duck hunting still in his bag.... Not one single jam and he rarely cleans it much to my chagrin. I liked it so much that I bought a used one for duck hunting and it too has been flawless. With all this said, I am a huge Browning fan as I own several and is usually my first choice. We went with the original VM based on a friend that is a gunsmith, and have not been disappointed.
If it fits your need, I wouldn't hesitate. I think it is a great gun for the money. I would say that if it were the same price as the Browning or Benelli, I would go with the "B" as that is my go to... You will enjoy the VM based on my experience.

That's what I was thinking unless you're shooting steel at quail.

Yep... Youth is wasted on the youth... Love him dearly and only told him to check things like that about 10x.... :-) Only happened once...that I know of. But I have loaded 3" 2.75" and 3.5" in succession just to see in my gun. Pull the trigger as fast as you can and doesn't miss a beat with the VM.
