"Abattoir". It sounds kinky , but it's not. Who has an abattoir set up on their hunting property?

that's one word I have never heard before
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Never heard that word before, but just looked it up.
No Abattoir at our place, but we have a little gutting/skinning shack where we hang em up. Thanks, you just reminded me i need to buy a couple of replacement gambrels.

Good word! I had to look it up too. Gave me a great memory of that field rock building on my Grandma's farm that my Grandpa and my dad built back in the early 50's, that we called the "slaughterhouse". They'd have looked at me real funny if I called it an abattoir.

I've encountered it mostly in books related to war, particularly describing a place like Little Round Top at Gettysburg or some of the trench stuff during WWI.

When Taylor Meat built their new facilities on the west side of town that was the sign they put up next to the highway.

We always called it a slaughterhouse, butcher shop or processor.
