I have been setting all my decoys up with Texas rigs this off season. My question is should I look into getting the sectional decoy bags or just keep using the large duffel bags? Can those section bags hold more than one decoy per slot?

Check out the higdon x slot bag. That things looks to hold a bunch of dekes.

My favorite bag is the rigem right refuge runner. But I walk into alot of my spots.

Have a couple of both kinds, use neither. PITA. If you’re a walk in hunter, that changes things.

You don't need a bag with texas rig. 400lb mono is best, less tangle, and keep the rigs small, 1dz max. Over hand knot on each rig. When I walked in hunt, I carried 18 deeks, 9 per rig, pic below. With carabiner clip on each rig, clip onto the o-rings on your waders flip over each should, carries great. Let the sand out of your deeks, less weight, also use 1.5oz weights. Less weight makes big difference on long walkin hunts. Pic below is 2011/12 season.

Appreciate the inputs and advice. I walk in for my hunts. I like the advice to drain the sand out

Carabiner through the loop and tie a half hitch down near the decoys to keep the lines from intermixing.

This method works well up to 4-4.5 feet of line length. Longer than 5 feet I use long lines in slotted bags.

Thought for the day: Ducks were almost hunted to extinction long before camo was invented.

That is true, length makes a big difference. If you are walk-in hunter, you are scouting for the x and that will be where they are feeding and that will be shallow. If you are running traffic, different story need longer line, heavier weights, and a lot more deeks, not a strategy for a walk-in hunter. And really not a strategy for someone that hunts solo, which I do a lot.

Speaking of slotted decoy bags. Someone use to make a 12 slot decoy bag that was like a back pack. Anyone know who made that?

Never mind I found it, it's a banded bag. I'll pass...

Texas rigs are great, especially for large spreads. But I still use old school wind the cord around the keel and a lead strap weight. For walk in hunting, considering you are not typically carrying more that a dozen and a half decoys it really does not take that long to put them out or pick them up. And no worries about tangles.
