So, it's an FFP red dot with a laser rangefinder?
What could go wrong?!

They won the right to submit a product for testing. This happens every 3 or 4 years with the military. I have worked for several companies that have “won” the right to submit. It does not mean anything at all.

I'm not a Vortex hater, the two that I have work fine. At the same time, I consider them a budget optic, even the Razor HD lines. If I were a warrior, there are a whole lot of other companies I would look at before even considering a Vortex.

I work for a major defense contractor. We are not allowed to use any parts at all obtained from China and haven't been for several years. So it can't be Chinese made or with Chinese sourced parts, so there is at least that. Earl

Is it Chinese like most everything else they sell? It can’t be under Berry Amendment Well, I don't think anyone could honestly believe that all those electronics in that contraption are made in the USA. I don't but that for one minute.

So all of our night vision, Laser designator, rangefinders etc are made where? If vortex was to win the bid, I wouldn’t be surprised if they aren’t partnered with Raytheon, TI etc.l to actually build it.

You tell me. I've heard from a very reliable source that even the electronics in Leica Geovid's are Chinese. The Vortex electronic optics currently made all have Chinese electronics.

Where I work we manufacture all kinds of electronics, weapon systems, etc. for the US and Allied militaries. Unless there is absolutely no alternative we are forbidden to use anything even component parts or sub assemblies that come from or are sourced thru China. In the rare instances where there are no options, you have to follow an exception process and it's not just "Oh, I gotta use this Chinese part."
Usually as manufacturers ourselves, if there is no alternative you MAKE the part or assembly yourself if you can't find a source outside of China. That goes into the cost in the bid process before you are ever awarded a contract.
If you put in a bid for a US Military item and it has something manufactured in China in the assembly or component makeup, if there is another domestic sourced/produced option - you won't get that contract.
Earl

Earl This is my experience as well at Raytheon. Counterfeit parts are a huge challenge requiring traceability for Supply Chain. It is a very expensive process but well worth it.
I was wrong...on anything technical. Fitz............. is right, ya know............

If Lecia USA wins then it won’t have any Chinese parts, You are comparing consumer budgets to national defense budget that have certain legislation behind it. A lot of people don’t know thos but puerto rico is a huge MFG hub for military tents, boots, uniforms, sleeping bags etc. lower cost labor but still technically US made. A lot of companies have two lines. Mystery Ranch Backpack is a perfect example. All military award packs are made here using US made cordura, all hunting packs are made overseas with China mfg’d cordura

looks like that old BOARS System I definitely does, but from what I gather talking to a few people there, it works more like a Burris Eliminator or Swarovski DS system plus a couple features
