How in the hell do you accidentally shoot someone while Turkey Hunting!? Seriously, what could the situation have been that he couldn't tell that 50 yards in front of him, there were Humans. Not turkeys.

Lots of dangerous issues with turkey hunting. Most caused by hunters with 410s trying to shoot at 40 yards and more.

Saw a video of a guy turkey calling and his friend was taking video of it when a hunter shot him in the bum. Thought this might be it.

Those mojo scoot and shoot deals could be dangerous on public land. Obviously I don't know if.that was in the scenario but a could be.

Yeah, there are a surprising number of folks who are shot by turkey hunters, usually, but not always, other hunters. Some how you would think a game warden type person would know better. Then again, you would think a game warden wouldn't be a poacher like Chris Fried.

Not turkeys. Shooting at noises/bushes, most likely. Hope those guys are ok and hope they get the officer for any charges they can.

I idea what the situation was in the original post, but here’s a scenario:
Two guys have some decoys out and have been working two toms. Already had a hen come in and beat up one decoy. Hear another Tom coming from the opposite direction of the first two, and he’s coming fast. The two guys reposition quickly, with the caller directly behind the shooter. Caller hits the slate, tom responds immediately and keeps coming. Both guys can now make out a figure coming through the brush, gobbling with each hit on the slate. Shooter gets lined up on an opening the turkey will walk through, caller tones it down and coaxes the tom into the opening. Only it’s not a tom, it’s a hunter in full camo (including head net). Both the shooter and caller were certain it was a tom turkey. Had the shooter not been cool, that guy would have taken a 3” turkey load to the face and chest. As it was, both shooter and caller were so freaked out, they packed up and left immediately. The other hunter disappeared back into the brush.
This happened about 20 years ago. I was the caller. No idea why the other hunter tried to stalk a turkey. Someone with a little less experience, or someone with a quicker trigger finger, and this could have been disastrous. There are a lot of idiots in the woods during turkey season (this was NW Arkansas), and sometimes they cross paths with horrible consequences.

As a hunter for over 60 years and a Hunter Ed instructor I try to instill in my students how in their excitement to be a successful hunter adrenalin some times over comes reality and tragic mistakes can ensue. I almost shot my Dad, my best friend as a new hunter attempting to conquer my first pheasant. I will never forget the look on his face and how grateful I am today that he overcame his shock at my carelessness and let me work through my error and helped me become a safe and aware outdoorsman.
If you don't control your emotions and stay in control accidents are inevitable

I remember that years ago outside of Fredericksburg a lady was bent over picking pecans in black pants and a guy shot her in the butt with a.243.

It really is very simple to be sure of your target before pulling the trigger. People are stupid and hunters are no exception to the rule.
