Copes Distributing sent an email today about the flat top, 410 upper they just got in stock. Read up on it and it seems like a pretty neat little toy. Only has a 5 round mag, but I understand they've got bigger capacity mags somewhere. Anybody know where to get them?

That's the coolest AR upper I've heard of in a while. I gotta get one of those. I just can't wait to show up for a dove hunt with my "Evil Black Rifle!" LOL

Can you imagine shooting a round of skeet or sporting clays with an AR15? Just the puzzled looks from the other guys on the range would make it worth trying.

Aye. Saiga. 12-20-410. Not as nice and polished, but effective... I can't believe they haven't been banned from 3 gun matches yet...

The upper arrived today. First impressions are the finish isn't as nice as the American made uppers, but it doesn't look crudely made either. Gas system is unique - much different in operation from a regular AR. Cool polymer magazine looks like a P-mag. Neat looking down the bore and seeing that .410 sized hole v standard .223.

Is it a rifle barrel designed for slugs, or is it smooth bore? If smooth bore, do you have any idea how it is choked. I would imagine modified or full since it is a 410, but I was just wandering. If you ever decide to go shooting at Elm Fork's sporting clays or skeet range make sure you post on here first so I can be there to see the people's reactions.

Its a smooth bore, but I'm not sure of the choke. I'm going to ask at Elm Fork if I can shoot sporting clays with it one time. Look on youtube for a video (not mine) of some guys shooting it. It's pretty cool seeing it run.

The only thing I could see Elm Fork having a prob with is the number of rounds you load in it.... and even then... they might not care.

Dove hunting with it.... well... you better find a way to plug that mag Would be funny as heck to see someone show up with an AR at a dove hunt... I can hear it now....

"you see dat boy down there? he's got one of them evil, machine, assualt people killin' black guns, and he is one heck of a good shot cause he keeps droppin' dove with it."

I got it from Copes Distributing. The upper, with 5 round mag was just under $600 delivered. I put it on my lower last night and it actually doesn't look as crude as I originally thought. Matched pretty well.

If they come up with a 3 round mag, I'm all over this one.

Practice doesn’t make perfect.
Practice makes permanent.

I have read that some people have used wooden blocks or other items to plug off AR magazines used for hunting in other states, so I'm sure you could come up with something similar. I would just check with a game warden first to make sure it is legal.
