Why don't they use taser more often though. I mean that's one less bad guy on tax dollars, but I'd think to use a less lethal source would be the go to.

Then there's this. If getting shot won't keep a guy on drugs down how is a taser going to keep him down?

Lol. My Great Grandfather was a Sheriff for 33 yrs, and he killed 33 men with his pistol in the line of duty. It’s a good thing social media didn’t exist then. He would have been sent to prison for life and his name destroyed. He shot it out with Bonnie & Clyde, that would have been a law suit now.

We have gotten way too soft.

They said he dropped the knife.

But it looks like those officers failed.
Why did they leave the cover of their car, what if he would of hoped in it and took off?

Why did they move to a public roadway, even though it was barricaded with firetrucks?

I completely understand a taser wouldn't of worked on that guy, you have to assess each situation differently. Interesting they went less lethal after already using pistols.

Given the choice between a Tazer and my Glock I choose the Glock 100% of the time.

Tazer is a one and done chance....my Glock gives me 15 chances.

He charged a cop that was holding a gun on him with a knife. He meant to kill the cop. He got exactly what he deserved, nothing less.

These "well he didn't have to shoot him" or "he could have tried non-lethal means" arguments are ridiculous. I watched a bodycam video that was similar....guy told the perp no less than 25 times to drop the knife. Guy makes a move and gets shot, goes down, gets back up after a few seconds and still advances on the cop. ends up rushing the cop and stabs him before his partner takes him out.

If he would have dumped the clip into him the first time he could have avoided being stabbed

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

I am glad you posted that synopsis. I would have shot him alot sooner too. That officer did not want to kill that man, but he needed killin

Unfortunate that officers have to potentially put them selves at risk by having wait until the last few seconds before defending themselves against obvious lethal threats.

That officer wearing the body can had one option, a contact shot to the offenders head. Lots to be learned from videos like this

No disagreement on the situation -- you don't take a 3 foot sword to a cop. The only thing I'd fix in this whole thing are the folks that got on KSU about not having backup/cover. This cop did and it's clearly shown in the bodycam footage. Still, can't know that your partner has a good angle

Been gone feeding hungry deer and read the 2nd post on this thread. I must be missing something. I would ask why is there a need to even bring in a taser. Why can't people simply comply with the directives being brought to them? Daddy always said, "never argue with a man who wears a gun and a badge for living.". I haven't. What is wrong with people?

I just scrolled up and see some of you guys have brought up the same issue.

If people are willing take issue with those who kill poisonous/venomous snakes, how the hell do you expect them to not see an issue with killing a man threatening someone with a knife?

Just another sign of changing attitudes as Texas moves towards becoming a blue state.

I guess I must be a wimp. Got into an altercation with a fella (long, long time ago) where I was, well, showing him some business. I do not have any idea where the 357 came from, but he put it in my face. The barrel of a 357 looks pretty big up close. My attitude changed pretty quickly. These perps must be a lot "braver" than I am .

You don’t bring a knife or a taser to a gun fight

So people that don’t kill venomous snakes are Democrats now?

That guy wanted to commit suicide and used the cop as a tool to do so. Unfortunately the officer now has to live with it.

To be determined

They should be damn glad he didn't have another in his pocket.
