Shows you how much I know about fresh water, I thought large mouth were bad tasting fish. I was under the impression that they were just for sport.

A lot of people will have you believe that and that they should only be catch and release. It's nonsense

I've eaten plenty bass. They don't hold a candle to a crappie. You just liked that Sam Rayburn bass because it irritates the bass fishermen.

Different strokes for different folks. I can honestly say fresh filleted blackbass from Sam Rayburn cooked with plain ole Louisiana blue bag fish fry is amazing.

I'd also take fried catfish from lake Livingston over crappie from any lake any day. All personal preference my friend

Oh yeah different soil types, different water clarity, hydrilla in the lake vs none. All change it up a bit.

"What taste better fresh water reds, red, or saltwater reds?" The answer is speckled trout.

I dont care for the taste of speckle trout, my favorite tasting is red snapper, black drum, reds, sheepshead, then the speckled trout.

Snapper, Flounder, then trout IMO. Red's don't make the list and I'd almost prefer sting ray chunks as long as it's a small one

Definitely agree with snapper and then flounder (either or), just sayen the trout is tastier than reds.

Love that candy striped sting ray flesh. Good steaks out of the bigger wings.

Since it’s a one upper thread and related to fishing, how about a day on the water with Jimmy Houston? Then dinner including Bill Dance and Roland Martin. The stories told roflmao best weekend ever!

Your not supposed to eat the Reds that come out of the power plant lakes, due to the heavy metals in the water, I believe.
