I made the mistake of spending too much time on gunbroker again and ended up ordering a new rimfire supressor and now need a new host gun, originally I was thinking about switching barrels on my 10-22 take down but all the take down barrels are 3-400 and figure that’s the price the price of a new gun. What 22 bolt guns do y’all recommend, I’m torn between cz455, Ruger precision or the savage b22, would not mind cheaper though, must have a threaded barrel and good accuracy.

If I was going to buy a 22 bolt gun, I'd just go get a vudoo and be done with it. I've tried most of the cheaper stuff and seen reviews on the rest, and none of it holds my standards for accuracy. The 10/22 certainly doesn't. I had a CZ and Savage that both were really disappointing. Maybe the RPR would be better? The other one to consider is the Tikka, but I've seen groups from it and it wasn't any different than my Savage or CZ. You just get really ammo-limited in the 22 world because you can't find a load for your gun and roll your own.
I have a buddy with a Ruger American Rimfire that he's happy with. But he hunts armadillos with it, not paper targets, so that's an entirely different world when it comes to accuracy.
ETA: My 10/22 with Green Mountain barrel shoots better than any bolt action rimfire that I've ever had. So that's another thought.

I have a cz457 w/manners stock and with the proper ammo it shoots great.

The Tikka is worth a close look. With the possible exception of a super heavy barrel target 22 I owned for a while, the Tikka is the most accurate 22 I’ve ever owned. Much better than even my Marlin 39A. The Tikka has a 1 MOA guarantee for 3 shots at 50 yards.
Had a lady here a month or so ago, and she wanted to shoot the Tikka. I had a target stand at about 40 yards, so I put a new target on it and showed her how to use front and rear shooting bags. She was shooting real well, so I suggested that she shoot a hole in an open part of the target and then use the bullet hole as her target. She put the second shot in that first hole. She said “Wow”. And I don’t use expensive ammo. It shoots that well with Remington Golden HP ammo, which I use for yard critters, it being more effective than RN ammo.

I agree with giving Tikka a look. I have one in 17 HMR and love it. I regularly take it out to 300 yards. One time I was down to my last 15 rounds. Loaded one mag full (10 rounds) and loaded one mag half full (5 rounds). For kicks I shot 10 rounds as fast as I could, swapped magazines as fast as I could, and took the last 5 shots as fast as I could. The group size was a bit over an 1" at 100 yards.

Vudoo is hard to beat for the bolt
After watching and getting my butt kicked a lot lately I would look at the CZ with the Manners stock
That’s it

Another thought. Send your takedown barrel to Morgan and have it threaded. Even if you do get a bolt gun that is threaded, I'd still do this so you can have 2 hosts for your suppressor.

I would be surprised if the factory take down barrel is heavy enough to thread. Considered yourself surprised. He may have to cut it back, but the 18.5" standard is the same barrel profile as the 16.4" takedown (that's threaded). Sadly, if he's running iron sights, the front sight prevents threading without its removal.

I have vudoo and the bergara B14r and as far as 22 bolt guns go I think I have number 1 and number 2 as far as performance goes. The CZ is a top performer as well, but it doesn’t have the heft and mass of the others, and the ability to use Remington 700 stocks, triggers, and other items is really attractive.
Both of mine are threaded, and are capable of .2-.3 5 shot groups at 50 yards all day long. They creep into the .4-.5 range when you shoot 10.
I posted some pics of the vudoo and the bergara side by side not long ago.

Thank you guys! I’ll look into the cz and Tika some more, the voodoo is really nice but way out my price range if I was going to do competition with it I might but for a fun plinker and trainer I cant convince myself for that much lol. I get it. My point was that if you're not going to get a Vudoo, just buy a cheap one and be done with it. I had a CZ that wouldn't hit the broad side of a barn and I've seen guys on snipers hide raving about their Tikkas only to see group pictures and wonder if they were even using a scope. Then I see pictures of groups with the Vudoo and I realized why folks spend the money on them. I'm not that familiar with Bergara, but if a Vudoo owner says it's right there with the Vudoo or a half step behind it, then that would be good enough for me. For a plinker, I'd get a 10/22 for $200 and a GM barrel for $150 and you'll out-shoot most any bolt gun out there short of the Bergara/Vudoo level.

IDK about this, there are several 10/22, CZ, and Tikkas out shooting the Voodoo in the matches including group size on the black death targets. I think Voodoo's are wildly overpriced, atleast from what I'm seeing. I'm not impressed.

I don't think some of the guys would really do that much better if you put the Voodoo in their hands instead of what they already have.

Hard to beat Tikka's for the price. I have one and I like it. The CZ's are known shooters. My buddy has one and it's very accurate. I think the Vudoo is probably the best out there but hard for me to spend that much on a 22.

I think Voodoo's are wildly overpriced, atleast from what I'm seeing. I'm not impressed. Any 22 is about finding the right ammo. I have seen good reports from CZs, but I've owned 2 and they both stunk too high heaven. I've owned 2 Savages and a factory 10/22. None of them would shoot worth anything either until I put a GM barrel on my 10/22, and that was the first 22 I've had that shot what I would call "acceptably" accurate. Maybe I've spent so much time with centerfires that my standards on accuracy are just too high. I found a good deal on another Annie and picked it up a while back. Haven't taken it out yet, but it's a sporter model and not a BR model. I still expect it to easily put 5 inside .4" all day long. Problem with those guns is finding decent scope mounts. I do find that most 22 issues are either shooter-related or ammo-related. Problem is that most folks aren't willing to put in the time or expense to fix either.

To give you an idea regarding the accuracy of some of my 22lr guns with the ammo they like. This is the accuracy I’m getting and is only a data point. Your individual rifle may shoot different.
Vudoo: Shoots in the low 0.2s at 50Y and in the 0.7s at 100Y Anschutz 1710 HB: Shoots in the mid 0.2s at 50Y and in the 0.7s at 100Y CZ 452 Lux factory: Shoots in the low 0.3s at 50Y CZ 513 factory: Shoots very good but the trigger is pretty bad so I haven’t shot it much. It’s definitely sub 0.5” and 50Y and I suspect it can shoot much better. Kidd supergrade: Shoots in the mid 0.3s at 50Y
CZ 455 American factory: Shot in the 0.75” at 50Y (sold it) Savage Mark 2 G factory: Shot in the 0.75” at 50Y (sold it)

Yep, all about the Ammo. Not just the right Manuf., for example, but also the right Lot #. You can test as many as you want, select the best, then as soon as you get a different Lot #, the accuracy can go away.

For a plinker, I'd get a 10/22 for $200 and a GM barrel for $150 and you'll out-shoot most any bolt gun out there short of the Bergara/Vudoo level. I'll have to disagree with you on that statement Patriot. I've got the Tikka and a CZ 452 Lux and they both will edge out my Magnum Research 10/22 with a Kidd barrel and bolt. All 3 are great shooters. You may have been unlucky with yours or perhaps you did not find the ammo it likes best. OP, if you are seeking the ultimate in quiet I'd go with a bolt action. The Tikka comes with a threaded barrel and some of the CZ models do as well. The Tikka has the best trigger of the 3 I have breaking at slightly less than 1 lb with an aftermarket spring.
I was wrong...on anything technical. Fitz............. is right, ya know............

I contacted Morgan at class 3 machining and he said 25 to remove the front sight on the takedown and thread it that includes shipping and tax as well, so I will defiantly be threading it, as for the bolt gun I’m gonna try and find the tika and the cz local and see how they feel. Really surprised me I figured more people would lean toward the ruger precision. I’m by no means a sharp shooter just like to have fun and if I can get a 3-5 shot group touching or close to then I’m happy lol. I appreciate everyone’s help!
