Yep. For me the only way to enjoy a Shipley original glazed donut, is to ask for them fresh, when they are hot and stuck together is the best way to enjoy them.

I got burned out on KK and Shipley's at work. I do like Shipley's kolache called the "Big Early" with jalapenos and cheese. It's made with a link of Earl Campbell's sausage and a couple of those with a few mustard packs is a dang good breakfast snack.
I was out in California getting some sand in my shoes (props if you get the reference) a while back and there was a Winchell's next to the hotel. I hadn't seen one in years so had to hit it. It was good.

Round Rock donuts are tops for me ... just plain glazed, if every in the area, they are a must try

Cake donuts > regular donuts When vendors bring us donuts they know to bring at least 50% cake and the ones that really are in the loop bring a dozen blueberry cake donuts.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

Let me preface this with the fact that I have been a Type 1 diabetic. 30 plus years.
I don't like KK. I have sampled almost every major brand of donuts and countless local versions. KK has way too much frosting on them and the dough itself is just too tough.
I remember when KK was all the national rage and when they did the IPO the stock went up like crazy. But I wonder how many people lost money when the stock crashed twice as hard 18 months later. .
