Is what I would love to have. Is there a KK donut place anywhere anymore?
Back in Houston, Maybe in the 90’s, when a KK donut shop was opened on Hwy 1960, I took the wife there. She had never had one, so was wondering why I wanted a dozen. I got the donuts, got back in the car, handed her the box and said “try one”. Heck that skinny little redhead had 9 or 10 and ate em so fast you’d be shocked. I went back and got another dozen and put em in the trunk.
A hot fresh Krispy Kreme donut is as good as it gets.
Not my monkeys, not my circus...

We have a few local outfits that would run KK out of town.

They’re ok, but have to be fresh. Even then they have WAY too much glaze on them. We have one in Lubbock but I’d rather hit Shipleys or any one of a dozen local shops.

There’s a KK here, but I’d rather have Shipleys. We’ve got 2 Shipleys here, I grew up eating them in Houston. My usual order is 2 plain glazed, 1 devils food, and a medium black coffee.

Shipley donuts are trash. They taste like the box. Serious question. So you have actually eaten the box for comparison? I have chewed on paper and cardboard. Put a little glaze on a piece of cardboard and boom, shipleys donut.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

Shipley’s are OK...just OK.
Krispy Kreme is where it’s at. I take customers KK, their eyes light up like kids at Christmas. Take Shipley’s and it’s like I brought them a tax form.

Shipley's does in a pinch. never had krispy kreme.
there used to be a little mom and pop shop in Willis.Mayflower bakery. i'd die to get one now. They closed down, i think his wife had cancer, or other health problems, not sure.
some mexicans bought it and now the donuts are 'tolable.

We have a place in Mabank that makes some killer donuts. And they make the real bear claws. Not apple fritters and call them bear claws like most try to do.
Haven't had it in years but never spit any out. I am a sucker for happy endings and strapped cowboys.
