This will probably turn into a ford vs. chevy type thread, but I'm going to ask anyway.
I'm starting to look for a 60ish HP tractor for use around my place. I'll use it for mowing road sides, maintaining gravel drive and probably moving some hay around. Got to have a front end loader.
I'd like to stick with a brand that has a local dealer. From my looking around that would be John Deere, Kubota, Mahindra, or New Holland. Possibly others.
Anyone have one they love? Or one to stay away from? Looking at new and used. Several places have 0% financing on new stuff which puts those in the game.

Any of the brands you mentioned with dealers near you will serve you fine.
Out of those specific brands you listed, I'd consider Kubota M4-061 or Mahindra 6065.
Also depends on what "possibly others" you might consider and if you're going to put 200 hours on it per year or 600+.
Giving member Navasot a call isn't a bad idea.

Would recommend a similar form factor but higher HP than 60.
Having said that I don’t own one, have only used kubota as rentals. Get a cab if you can afford it. Will make working in the heat or cold a lot more comfortable, and don’t have to worry as much about wasps, bees, etc.

John Deer stands behind everything they sell except their manure spreader.

I’ve given this tractor hell, and have been impressed what I’ve been able to do for its HP. 6110. 59 HP I’ve used JD, Massey, Case and Kubota in comparable HP, Mahindra was at the time best bang for buck bu I haven’t priced any in a long time ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2020/04/full-5357-225224-d3ff5653_fc6c_43f0_a13e_b9aa37d888ae.jpeg)

I wouldn’t hesitate to buy a Kubota. I think, to get that HP, it would have to be an M series. My long deceased buddy had a 60 hp Mahindra and it was impressive with what it would do. Leave it out in the sun long enough though, and the paint fades to pink. My BiL’s Mahindra also turned pink.
My 44 hp Kubota is about 8 years old. All it’s needed so far was a battery (and oil and filters). 600 hours so far.

Be VERY aware of and careful of JD maint, and repair problems, no longer able to due light mechanical problems yourself.
Have leased Kubotas a few times, loved them every time.

I've made roads with it through the Val Verde County brush. A ranch I managed had a big New Holland with a cab, A/C, the works. It was actually too big to be working in the rocks and hills on that ranch. Would have been great on a farm.

I’m a big fan of my New Holland T4.75, also like my old school (‘68) MF 180 for mowing!

I also have a New Holland 4.75 4X4 with a cab and front end loader. The front end loader has a skid steer type attachment plate which allows going from bucket to pallet forks to hay spear quick and easy with two levers. If you have a skid steer and multiple attachments the tractor can run those also. I have mine plumbed with hydraulic quick couplers at the front end loader like on a skid steer which allows me to run hydraulic post hole diggers, grappler buckets, post drivers, etc. It has been a good tractor and I can unload 18 wheelers loaded with heavy 5X5 round bales without a problem. It's a bad feeling when you pull a bale off of the top of a trailer and you realize your tractor doesn't have enough weight in the back end to handle it. Dealer support is very important since the newer models are loaded with electronics and tend to give more problems as they age. You won't regret going with a little more horsepower to get the weight advantage when using the front end loader. A cab and 4 wheel drive are a must for safety during shredding due to bees and wasps and it keeps you out of the dust and flying debris. Mine also has a buddy seat which the grandkids like because they can go along to be part of the daily activities. During the winter I put a hay spear on the front and a hay spear one on the back. It sure makes winter haying season a lot more comfortable and I don't come back with icicles hanging from my mustache. I was raised on a farm and ranch and cut my teeth on a popping Johnnie Model A pulling a triple disc Deere plow. The newer tractors make life so much easier and fun. Don't overlook the newer used tractors. You could save money on a larger tractor that fits your budget and dealers will offer good discounts and sometimes an extended warranty. Enjoy your new tractor.

I’ve owned JD, Case, Kubota, Massey and New Holland. Latest new one was a New Holland T115 4wd with loader, cab and ac. I farm with them. Can’t kill that Massey. Kubota was ok, older 60 Hp. Case always needed work. JD parts aren’t cheap but she’s a workhorse. New Holland is the best so far, price versus HP, options and reliability.
My Dad worked for JD for 28 years and I’ve been green for awhile but this New Holland was ALOT cheaper than a comparable JD.
Anything less than 40 HP is a garden tractor in my opinion. Frames are too light and Hp/torque too low for getting done what I need. There will be a time when you say “wish i had a bigger tractor”. You will never say “ wish I had a smaller tractor. Get 4wd in whatever you buy. You will need it.

I have a 40 hp and have often wished for 60 hp. When I needed serious power, I’d call neighbor Pete and he’d show up with his 60 hp Mahindra and do what I could not do with my tractor.
In the years I knew Pete, I do not believe that he EVER changed engine oil or hydraulic oil and filters. He did NO preventive maintenance. And that tractor kept on running. He passed away and his SiL has the tractor. After much needed repair, it is still running.

I bought a 6065e cab deere last year. It is my single favorite possession I own. One thing I learned is that the implements I used on my 40-50 horse tractors were too small. I'm glad the guy asked me about adding 2 extra remotes on the rear. I bought a hydraulic disc, mx10 mower and 8 ft road boss. Those implements paired with that tractor are match made in heaven. Ac sure is nice too! I have no complaints other than the fuel tank should have been designed larger than it is. Get a power reverser as well!

I've had and used Ford, JD, Case, IH and Kubota tractors on the ranch. Still have an old 40HP IH diesel that I use regularly, bladed drive with it yesterday.
My day to day tractor is a Kubota L35TLB - it's the 35HP commercial version with integrated frame with FEL and backhoe that clips on so you can use three point. With foam filled tires, 4WD and a weight of 7000 pounds, it holds it's own quite well. I have hauled one round bale on back with 3point and one round bale on forks on bucket lots of times when moving hay from field to storage.

I just traded off my Kubota M70?? for a Deere 5075M. It cost a bit more to go from the E to the M but it has been worth every penny!!!! The M has heavier duty everything and the cab is slightly bigger! Kiddos love the extra room and can go with me to put out hay and anything else. Jeere has been awesome to deal with and I really like that the insurance is through them and not a 3rd party!! Way cheaper and better insurance!! Deere financing was easy and decent rates.

I have a little bitty one. Think that will do?
