Does anybody have any experience with doing a warranty claim on a leupold scope? I took my .243 to an expert to sight it in for me, and he tried to sight in the scope but it would not hold a zero. He believes that the problem is with the scope and not the rifle. If it helps at all the scope is a vx-1 3-9x40 and I believe that it is no longer being made.

I had a problem a few years ago with a very old Leupold scope (from the 60's or 70's) I sent in in and they repaired it and sent it back. It took a couple of months but I don't think I had to pay anything except the cost to ship it to them. Had a similar experience with a Nikon scope that wasn't as old and they were easy to deal with also. Just poke around on their website for instructions.

You will be covered, follow the warranty procedures and they will fix or upgrade you.
I used warranty services for luppy, Zeiss, Vortex, and Swaro.
Luppy is number two behind Vortex soley based off speed. Swaro was next and Zeiss was last but all four fixed, replaced or upgrade with no hassle. Zeiss actually upgraded significantly but was just slow.

I sent in a second-owner VX-1 4-12x40 for a really tight mag ring. They fixed it, tested it out, and sent it back in about a month's time. I was pleased.

If you have a moment give me a call and I'll give you some detail on who to reach out to at Leupold

I sent them a very old (40+ years) that I bought used in the 80’s. A M8 6x that has a loose lens. It was too old to fix, so they sent me a new one.

I bought a 3-9x40 Vari X-II with a bunch of other stuff at a garage sale and the adjustment screw slots were buggered up.
In less than a month they had it back to me with the screws replaced and multiple internal parts replaced.
Very happy with Leupold service.

I don't think I've ever had to send one in but I know they will fix you up.

I've send two older (late 80's early 90's) military scopes back to them. They fixed the problems on them and returned them with no questions.

I bought a used rifle that had Leopold scope rings. One screw was missing. I called them and they sent me 4 screws at no charge.

I bought a new VX-3 in 2015 and the windage turret didn’t work. Sent it in and asked the cost of having a German #4 installed. Leupold installed it at no charge because in their words they had to disassemble the scope anyway to fix it and to compensate me for my inconvenience.
Don’t roll those bloodshot eyes at me.
