HI everyone,

I hate to ask a question that's probably been done to death, but the search function is basically useless.

What's an inexpensive conventional .308 bullet for the .300 BO that does a nice job on hogs? I mostly load the 110 gr Barnes black tip, but I'm looking for a plinking load that will do a decent job given a target of opportunity.

The 130 Hornady SPs shoot under an inch at 100 for me and are not only cheaper than the Blacktips, you can actually find the Hornadys soap

Just my .02,

I'm using the 110 grain Hornady SP. I've used the 130's but for me the 110's are usually easier to find.

It depends on how you buy them. But for me, it would be the 110 V-max. I buy them in bulk at OEM pricing. But you can find some pulled 147/150 grain FMJ bullets for less, if you just want a round to go bang with.

Thanks for the suggestions. It seems the 110 V-Max, the 125 ProHunter, the 125 TNT and the 130 Hornady SP are all pretty good at .300 BO velocities. The 125 Ballistic Tip also seems to be an option. I guess that I'll see what I can find.

Don’t discount the Speer hot cor. Cheap and kills plenty good.

Agree, killed critters and won some bets and informal matches in the past with them as well. All I used in the 7mm-08 for several years

I’m using these for general purpose supersonic load. https://www.sierrabullets.com/product/30-caliber-7-62mm-125-gr-hp-matchking/

Sierra 2121 125gn. These work well on critters but I prefer Chad’s Barnes Tac-TX 110gn...those go click, bang, go night night on piggies

Wilson Combat has the new 135 gr Bonded from Speer available, just got an email, didn't think to check & see if the 130 Hot Cor was available. Daniel
