For those that lease land or own land (but live in another county), are you planning on making any changes with your hunting trip travels? I plan to turkey hunt next few weeks but won't be visiting the local town. Just drive doorstep to gate, stay in camp and back home. If I did have the virus, I would not want to pass it along to a town with very limited health resources plus all the restaurants we go to are shut down completely. The towns sherriff dept already posted they would be enforcing all state mandates and were already breaking up bbqs and stuff.
I was just in Telluride, CO and the county we were in ordered all non-residents to leave immediately and residents to shelter in place. It was the first to do so there. No short term rentals allowed anymore or out town property owners. Posted that civil and criminal cases would be filed for non-compliance. Now we didn't see anyone actually enforcing this as it was just posted on the counties website so we left 2 days later on our schedule departure. Condo company didn't even tell us anything. Norway banned all vacation home stays since the rural communities have little health resources

At this point I plan on doing the same. Go to lease and stay there, then no stops on the way home.

Same thing up here. Call landowner ahead and be sure he knows I’m coming but not stopping by. Hour and 1/2 drive. Long day but get up early. Hunt alone. Direct to gate. Take lunch. Eat in field. Hunt til sundown and drive home.

I plan on giving a turkey or two a bad medical condition here in a few weeks. But I'll be smart about it and not endanger anyone along the way.

Have a feeling that many deer leases may become open, employment rates looking grim.

Have a feeling that many deer leases may become open, employment rates looking grim. Yep I have heard predictions of 20% unemployment by the time this is all over. As of now nothing changes for me. I never got into the Turkey hunting thing so don't see myself doing that unless I cant find food on shelves. Truth is I would rather eat fish anyway and those are much closer to me than Turkeys.

I got on my current lease due to 2008/09 crisis. Four out of the six guys lost their jobs or took a huge hit. A few wanted back on when things got better. We'll see what happens this go around.

I hunt on several properties (hog and predator control). I will be hunting as much or more because of the virus, but I won't be hunting with Pig Popper until this passes and I cancelled hunting with friends who come from out of state. I really enjoy hunting with other folks, but necessity of most of my hunting is to hunt alone. Even so, I am bothered that I won't have few opportunities to share the experience with good friends.
I have notified some of my landowners that they should not contact me in the field (occasionally they will be out and about when I arrive on property) as my home town has numerous cases. At home my family and I are sheltering in place as much as possible and limiting contact with others. My youngest daughter is not coping well with being cooped up like this. For me, getting out to hunt late at night is a nice reprieve.
I figure that with limited hunters getting out, my opportunities could potentially increase as the hog and predator populations are not going to be pursued as much and particularly with all this rain, my landowners need the help more than ever.

I'm staying close to home so that I can keep everything up and running as usual. I can hunt later when there's no fear of being able to get or do whatever the wife needs to be happy. Simply put, I can't relax in the woods unless I know everything is fine on the home front.

Been working from home since 3/17. Kids Haven't been in school since 3/6. They are doing Distance learning as of last Monday. We leave tomorrow afternoon and don't plan to come back in the city for 2 weeks. My phone gets good reception so hotspot will keep us working/schooling. Of course, with modern technology, I'll be hunting hogs and sleeping at the same time. I'm excited.

Honestly it is very relaxing at the lease now. Beats sitting on the couch at home!! Not going to change anything for me except not go to town and spend money.

It looked like a parade of pickups and SxS’s coming down 114 West thru Jacksboro for most of last week, especially Friday, you would have thought it was the opening of deer season. I can only hope that all of them followed a few on this threads plans of no contact and no stopping in town. We would be in bad shape if an outbreak started here. Our stores are already emptied, and additional purchases from out of towners will make it harder on the elderly to get what they need.

I've been using a lot of this time off to put up new cross fencing at my place in Lometa. I cant get much more socially distanced than that! It is normally dead out there this time of year. Yesterday it looked like deer season with all the trucks going by with trailers and side by sides. Also, driving home it seamed like every stock pond I went by had a family fishing on it. It was really cool to see. Fresh air and sunlight appear to be coming back in style to a lot of folks that normally stay inside.

No impact for me. The way I typically roll works, drive there and back without stopping. The hogs are practicing social distancing. I didn't see a group of ten or more, but saw some smaller groups. They are attempting to maintain a safe social distance from me, but haven't found the right range as of yet. This boar thought 125 yards would be good enough.
An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.

Don't want to take any chances with those folks out in the country.

I know the impact on me is we are eating through the freezer faster than I planned. I might have to go get some axis or something, our deer ain't gonna last.

Cannibalism 2 cannibals were eating a clown, one says “does this taste funny to you” the other says “yeah, I’m having a ball” Yes it’s almost 8pm and I’m unsocial distancing, with a bottle, sorry
