Some of y'all might consider an upgraded IFAK to go along with all the other stuff. i keep a CAT TQ, compression guaze, and chest seals close by.

Did NFA remove the restriction for VFG's on pistols? They have 2 different rulings on it. If the pistol is at least 27” OAL without a muzzle device installed measured to the back of the pistol brace fully extended its not considered a pistol anymore and can have a VFG on it. Then there is another ruling that says it’s measured from the back of the buffer tube. I normally do not run it on there, but hey it’s the end of the world sooo.....

thermal or NV would be cool but dragging a generator around to keep batteries charged seems like a drag..

If it's end of world, I'm just going to chill out on my couch with a glass of bourbon. I don't see the point of running around weighted down for no reason. If the world ends, we end no matter where you are.
We'll let warriors shoot it out and pick up what's left.

Some of y'all might consider an upgraded IFAK to go along with all the other stuff. i keep a CAT TQ, compression guaze, and chest seals close by. In a true shtf situation with higher level medical care unavailable a tq won’t make a difference... It may prolong you a bit but only for so long I think tq are most valuable in normal times when accidents can occur

All I am trying to say is if you don’t have access to higher care (can’t get there, unavailable, etc) a tourniquet wont make much of a difference except extend your life for a bit. It’s not a magic cure, it just stops the bleeding long enough to get to medical care.

Not sure where the disconnect is. Are you saying I shouldn’t be carrying a TQ because it’s not a magic cure? I cant exactly carry a surgeon around with me.

^^ “end of the world” doesn’t exactly equal “possible accident in today’s society”....
It’s a good practice for sure, but if all the surgeons and paramedics are gone, it’s a waste.

In a shtf situation (which is the title of the thread) it’s not as important because by the nature of the situation higher level care is hard to get to In normal/everyday life they are valuable

We wont be going anywhere in that we have several wells, full house generators, and wind for electric. We have enough cows, deer, fish , and other wildlife, along with huge gardens to last forever. I stock up on antibiotics from Mexico . We have a safe room if it gets a little hairy. I carry a tq, it's my belt.

Ask anyone that has ever had to literally eat, sleep, and breathe in a plate carrier, 100% of them will literally tell you that it is "gay". That is the only word that comes near to accurately decribe it. Some will say, "as gay as AIDs".
Try it, if you know any infantry cats or SOF dudes that have done it.
Nothing fun about it!

Nothing fun about it! Well I personally don’t think anything about the end of the world would be “fun”. I’ve taken a few training classes and wore it in one of them. Wasn’t the most comfortable thing in the world but I don’t just go running around in public in it either. I’ve worn it 2-3 times in I think 6 years I’ve owned it. It’s just for the worse case scenario.

Little goodies like 4x4s, gloves, aspirin, bandaids, an airway, stuff for burns. The chest seals should be mandatory.

if it's the "end of world", as in everyone has just gone nuts and it has become total anarchy, then I plan on just expending every round of ammo I have before being got. I'd rather not live in a world like that, so, I'd just choose the way I leave. This is my thought process as well. I would protect and care for my family right where I am as best I can. Past that, who would want to live in some type of post apocalyptic world? When, to quote Paul, “to die is gain”.
