Hard to go wrong with a G20, and the 10mm is an excellent round.

Killed an opening day buck with a 10mm this year.
Rock Island makes a solid 1911 that is real value-- the single stack Tac-Ultra is great and very accurate at 50 yards.
If you are backpacking or carrying one for bear defense then I think the G20 or 29 would be hard to beat.

Great round, I have it in 1911 and I’m craving it for an AR pistol or personal carbine like the Banshee.

Springfield Armory XD in 10mm is a solid inexpensive choice.
Ruger 1911 in 10mm would be another solid choice.

also the size of your sons hands. If they are normal to small. forget the Glock. He can grip a brick, if he can handle it , then a Glock will be fine
If not, look at the line of Dan Wesson 10mm if flush, Ruger, if not, Then as stated above, the Rock Island is a he77 of a pistol for the $$

Shot my first 10mm reloads thru my G20 on Saturday morning. Like the simplicity of Glock and mine seems to shoot fine. Buzz is correct on grip of the G20 it is a little on the blocky side and should be handled to see if it’s what you like.

I have an XDm 10mm and love it. Had a G40 in 10mm previously, but I prefer the way the XD feels in the hand. Zero reliability issues with either, both killed lots of pigs. I think the XD is the best optic ready offering at the moment.
