On my way to East Texas for several days to hunt other stuff on some public and private before the last seasons closed, Dave met up with me to hunt Snipe on my first two mornings. Rainy and cold, but turned out just right for all the walking. Birds were concentrated to a small area due to all the water, but not holding for dog or man and flushing far. We adapted and overcame.

Great pictures, John! It’s good to see you out there doing what you love. I’m glad you got past that scary stuff a few years back!

Nice job, they are challenging birds to hunt up here.
Ours are pretty much congregated along creeks with cattle and as a result taste terrible, the dog wouldn't even eat one.
How do those marshy birds taste?

IMO a lot like dove, but a bit more tender.

I've seen one snipe pointed that held for the flush in 50 years of quail hunting.
