Myself and another hunter are looking for a 2020 NM or Southern CO Elk Hunt Rifle in the 1st or 2nd rifle seasons with landowner permit (no draw). We are looking for a reputable outfitter with a high success rate on free range 270-300+ class bulls.

I second the suggestion to check with Jim Welles. Runs a great outfit. You could also check with Kiowa outfitters. I have hunted with both of them and they both will treat you right.

Unfortunately, neither Jim Welles (JFWRC) or James Duran (Sitkahunter/Luna Canyon) have any landowner tags available in the 1st or 2nd rifle seasons for this year. I am waiting for a response from Kiowa outfitters as recommended above.

I am now also looking into Lobo Outfitters (Mike Ray -Unit 4) and Top Notch Outfitters (Brian Newell-Unit 37).

Any insight as to either of these and/or any other recommendations are appreciated.
