California woman dies after getting caught in raisin-processing machine, police say angel

https://www.foxnews.com/us/californ...-in-raisin-processing-machine-police-say

A California woman died Friday after her clothing got caught in a raisin processing machine, police said.

Yaneth Lopez Valladares, 33, was purportedly removing debris from the industrial equipment when a piece of loose clothing got caught, pulling her in, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Deputies were initially called to the facility on South Indianola Avenue at around 11 a.m. over reports of an “industrial accident” after two employees witnessed Valladares get pulled into the machine. They immediately shut off the machine but it was too late.

Law enforcement determined she had died after being “severely injured” by the equipment

Seen very similar. These things happen more often than you think.

Terrible way to go for sure. I was just talking to someone earlier who told a story about someone who died at work and how that would be awful.

I worked in manufacturing for over 30 years. Saw some horrible things. Fingers removed by various means, forklift accidents that left people permanently disabled or dead, people sucked into rotating equipment, etc. You try to idiot-proof everything, but idiots are resourceful.

That’s terrible.

Bad things happen sometimes. I used to work as an oil refinery process engineer, and it could be very dangerous, but you never knew when. About 1976 or so, part of the plant was getting worked on. There was a team of guys working inside a very tall distillation tower. They broke for lunch and asked the new guy trainee to put air evacuators on the tower manways. He didn’t know how, so he hooked up a gas line to the evacuator and installed it backwards, filling the tower with natural gas. The guys came back from lunch break, crawled inside and before anybody said they smelled gas, somebody lit off a cutting torch. Blew 13 guys into small chunks. I lost several close friends in that one.

Every now and then, that place would flat scare the heck out of me, but that was where my paycheck was.

I understand the tower work, I had a crew inside one that checked clean in the morning, as the day warmed up some liquid laying inside a nozzle off gassed and when they cut a bolt it lit off with them inside. Lucky it was not enough to hurt or kill anyone but taught us a lesson on what to look for in the future. My brother-in-law was inside the tower so it hit home pretty hard and got me a good cursing. I can't imagine getting pulled into a machine knowing was is about to happen.

I shudder when I hear about someone getting pulled into a post hole auger because I’ve been so close to it so many times.
Again when I heard about a guy that got pulled into a ditching machine tail while digging.
