In my mind, I would want whatever size it is that an old man can handle it alone & of course that's empty. Thanks Daniel

RW, Here is my 2 cents which isn't much so ignore these comments away if you want. I have a few stand and fill and have the 600 lb and 1000 lb. I think the 500 lb, 600 lb and 800 lb'ers are the way to go but I know you are looking for only 2. Here are things to consider: 1. the 1000 lb unit sits too tall for older people to lift corn above their shoulders, people buying 37.5 lb and 40 lb bags of corn to lower lifting weight 2. keep all feeders slightly below shoulder height so lifting 50 lb bags of corn people only have to raise to shoulder height. 3. there have been problems with 1000 lb units with corn weight pressing on lower metal part of structure and creating problems 4. if you decide to go to the 1000 lb units lower part of container needs to have stronger metal material
thanks

RW,...for older people to lift corn above their shoulders... I resemble that remark.

I figure 400 lbs. for those who are just getting started in the protein delivery scene ( me ) and 1000 lbs. for the ones who are well established and can afford to feed that much !

Some has to do with just individual preference. I had an HB that held 350 and liked it, but it seemed like I was always needing to go out and fill it. It would go about three weeks at the rate I fed. I also had a 600 All Seasons that I didn't like as much that lasted six weeks. It was a 3 1/2 hour drive, one way, so even though the HB was a better built feeder and was easier to fill, I appreciated the 600# All Seasons more. The price difference mattered to me at the time. So, I guess my answer is, it depends. if I'd had a closer lease the smaller feeder sure was nice and easy to fill. On the other hand, the luxury of not having to go as often was nice as well. I'd do 600 if I had to pick one.

I have 2- 1000lbs at on stand. I’m not fond of filling feeders. Even with an auger
