I have a friend that was bitten by a rattler. His comments were similar. He said it felt like he'd been hit on the shin with a baseball bat.

They've had a lot of rain and flooding in Mississippi lately.

I never believed him but when I was a kid, a guy on a lease we were on said he was stepping over a rattler (said he didnt see it at first) that hit him on the bottom of his shoe and broke his ankle. I still dont believe him.

I've had both copperheads and rattlesnakes strike my boots and it was no amount of force worth mentioning.

I was nailed in the shin by a rooster when I was a kid. The pain was far worse than the impact a bird of that size can deliver. It didn’t even make sense until I saw the hole in my pants his spur had made. All I know for sure is that I’ll never spray a chicken with water ever again.

In the case of my friends bite. He was referring to the pain, not the force of the snake biting him. He's an M.D now. We were in college at that time. so I trust his description of the pain.

I got stung by a red wasp on the back of my head one time, it felt like someone hit me with a base ball bat.

I have had a lot of close encounters with venomous snakes.

Stepped on a rattlesnake, almost stepped on a cotton mouth (6in away), have had several close encounters with copperheads. I guess I took some of this guys luck.

Got bit by a copperhead when I was a kid. Felt like getting hit in the ankle with an 8 lb hammer!
