Nobody complains, everyone gets along, and the times spent in camp and in the woods is all good. Seeing and killing a deer is just icing on the cake. Yep

Enough venison in the freezer to last until the next season. I care nothing about antlers, only meat. I like looking at antlers. But MEAT is the 1st priority.

Wood burned, friendships made or reinforced, time spent away from work, miles logged in the woods, new hunters mentored, patience tested by crafty animals or bad weather or this year's deluge of acorns, meat in the freezer (one buck, two does), venison grilled and tall tales told (and retold), and a bit of good bourbon here and there. I'd call this one a good season!

Pretty simple. Good memories were created with little or no drama.
I didn't shoot a deer this season but did get the boar hog that was at the top of the landowner's "Kill'em if you see'em" list.

Saw quite a few deer early in the season. Lots of young deer, mostly doe and saw a number of bucks during the rut. Had some Fallow deer (2) show up last spring as well as 3 Red deer. They were all around until bow season then the Fallow and 2 larger Red deer disappeared. One of our hunters got a shot at the other Red deer but that one is still around on camera. We have pigs and normally see them every time a feeder goes off. They have gone nocturnal, still have them on camera during the night. Don't think we shot even one pig this deer season. Mother nature was good to the animals like so many other reports....a bumper crop of acorns. Everybody has some venison in the freezer so we are blessed in that respect. No problems on the lease, we did get to enjoy the beauty of God's creation of sunrise and sunset and the outdoors. I am starting to think about the new year and next hunting season...build a new blind? Start feeding protein?

Get back home with no blood gushing, broken bones, or trip to emergency room. Opinion has changed over the years.
