I upgraded our entire organization to 10 right before the holidays. I've been on it for a year or so "beta testing" our programs. Really I just didn't want to upgrade because I knew all the push back and bitching I'd hear from the staff. I was completely surprised, no one complained and I wasn't called into work one time over the 3 weeks I was off for Christmas/New Years.

Windows 10 is easy to learn and in some cases I find it faster than Windows 7, Cortona search box is your friend, Windows 8 is terrible, and Windows 7 is still my all time favorite.

I often get insults about posting old pictures but its the best I can do.

You should save all those old pics to a flash drive for insurance. I was the victim of a ransomeware virus a few years ago and lost some old photos. They wanted me to send 370.00 to an account in the Ukraine and they would send me the "key" to unlock my files. I told them to go F themselves.

I'm dreading it like the plague. Dell has sent me a thumb drive to install it and I won't on my work desktop until I have it installed on another laptop to learn with.

I don't have a stand alone Win 10 version. I'm just guessing that what Dell sent me for this computer is proprietary to Dell. I have two other older Dell laptops, but I also have a great IBM Lenovo laptop.

What is the deal with eBay? At first glance it looks like Win 10 can be bought for a buck and a quarter. Then somebody else is 50-100 times higher. Can you really get a legal download or legal disk or thumb drive for cheap?

It's not the software that's expensive. It's the license to run it. Most certainly that cheap software doesn't include the license.

Since the prior post I've found numerous licenses for under $5.00. The seller's feedback is good. One indicated continuous updates, etc. The same seller had happy license feedback for Win 365 on five devices. I guess it's cheap enough to try.

I switched to Windows 10 when it first came out. If I can learn to use it anyone can.

I back all my photos up on WD backup hard drives I buy from Walmart. I have 3 of them just about full of all my photos and still have them on the main hard drive of my desktop.

YES! Can't stress this enough. Edge is the worst browser I've ever used.

That's weird,I've been using Edge with no problems since I got my new box several months ago. Used Chrome and Firefox before that. Edge seems a little faster.

Edge has a hard time with many web forms (logins, etc...) There's a good reason Microsoft is shifting to a Chromium base for it.

We moved to Win10 for work. The OS is fine and I'm starting to relearn how to do crap I already knew in XP to 7, but getting put on Office 365. OMG it is freaking painful.

Forget about trying to find an email with outlook.

I'm convinced our Office 365 "Cloud" connection is set up to hit the Azure cloud in China. Slow and painful.

Can't load Classic Shell given its a company computer, but for those that can I hear its great. (http://www.classicshell.net/)

I use my Ipad most of the day. It's pretty old and won't let me upload the Chase app. I check my bank account, my master card, and email on the laptop as well as THF then shut that sucker down.

I did get a picture from my album to camera roll on there but it still wouldn't let me click.

Curious, did you try another browser yet? Like several others have suggested, it's the most likely solution. Download a fresh version of Firefox or Chrome and avoid any Microsoft browser.

BTW, Camera Roll is just the default Windows 10 target folder where images you take with the new Windows 10 camera app land. Typically these would be images or video you captured with a webcam. You can move images into, or out of this folder but it shouldn't make any difference what folder you're trying to upload from when using the THF or TFF editor, but your browser, and the security settings for your browser, can prevent the upload from working.

Also, it appears from the photos you posted you're storing your images on your external WD Easystore drive. The only reason to move a copy to your camera roll or other internal drive folder such as pictures would be for the sake of redundancy so if you lose one drive you'll still have a copy of the images on the other drive. You should always backup your important files.

Keep us posted. We're all pulling for you.

Back to the Windows 7 and Windows 10 issue - if you're still using 7 please do yourself a favor and make a complete backup of your critical files. If you decide to roll the dice and run 7 without support you need to understand that you're now the hunted and it's only a matter of time before you get exploited.

Also, if you still have 7 and don't want to upgrade to 10 for any reason, this is the perfect time to consider moving to Linux or Mac. Linux is free and some distributions are just as easy to use as Windows and MacOS. You can try a free USB bootable version of Linux Mint to see if you like it before diving in.

Sure if you work for a company you might be stuck with 10 but if you're an individual one good reason not to upgrade to 10 is the well documented fact by default, Windows 10 tracks your activity and sends a file back to the mothership every 15 minutes when you're connected to power or once every four hours if you're using battery. Microsoft built Windows 10 around this feature to take advantage of the data they can mine from their 1.4 billion global Windows users.

It's not too difficult to change the default Windows 10 settings but if you're smart enough to change the default setting or perhaps see the need to do so, then you're smart enough to stop trusting Microsoft and seriously consider a move to Linux or Mac.

Regarding the ongoing potential for paid security support for 7 that J.P. asked about in an earlier post, I believe it's only for 7 pro or 7 enterprise versions. Even if you qualify, you have to find a Microsoft partner willing to sell it to you. The problem is even if you pay for this service, it will not include bug fixes in the Windows 7 code and this will no doubt cause unforeseen trouble on the road ahead. If you took a look at your logs to see the shear volume of background pushes that Microsoft sends out to fix bugs in 7 you'd be very concerned.

In addition to the above mentioned paid support for partial security patches, there is also some Microsoft support for Windows 7 users that also subscribe to Office 365 but again, chances are that will not help many individuals.

Again, do your future self a huge favor and back up now.

Best ~
