Amount of deer seen, quality of deer seen, both, variety of animals seen, something different? What say the THF?

Nobody complains, everyone gets along, and the times spent in camp and in the woods is all good. Seeing and killing a deer is just icing on the cake.
Thursday at 12:45 PM #33 Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

All the firewood is gone. Everybody had fun and is still in one piece with new stories to tell around next deer season's campfires.
Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.

just getting in the woods as much as possible ... seeing and taking a deer or several is icing on the cake ... getting a really good deer (or several) adds sprinkles on the icing

Getting to go?
Ive never had a bad deer season. It was great growing up, but now I don't spend the time with my parents and brother I used to and we often hunt together so I really enjoy that.
It's hell eatin em live

Enough venison in the freezer to last until the next season. I care nothing about antlers, only meat.

This season was a success for me. First time to hunt private land since 2013-2014. Got on a nice lease with a good group of guys and great camp setup. Saw some really nice deer for the area. Got to take my daughter out to the stand for her first time (she’s about to turn 5). Finally punched a tag @ sunset on my last night to hunt, too (shot a pretty nice 8 point right at sunset), so meat in the freezer will feed us well for the off-season. Pretty much checked every box in my book!

Sunrises and sunsets, hunting with friends and seeing wildlife. I did not harvest a deer this year but saw the biggest buck I have seen on my place in 8 years. Would have loved to been presented a shot but it was not meant to be. At least I know he made it through the season since it was last friday. Lastly, spending time in the great outdoors and out of the city is good for the soul.

What I consider a successful season is making it to the next one with the ambition and health to do it again, and again,, and hopefully again.

Being healthy in all ways ( physically, financially, mentally) at the end of the season to do it again the next!
But I do measure the success of a season in large part by the intended game taken. Didn’t mean I didn’t have a good time if i didn’t bag my intended quarry but I wouldn’t call it successful.
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

I do like to see and harvest game. However, success to me is the quality of the experience. I really enjoy getting to a place where I can zone out what ever negative emotions I have, and focus on the beauty of the great outdoors. I find a sense of peace and contentment while hunting, that is why I go, and will continue to go, until I am physically not able to.

All from the June storm in Dallas I cut and split. First time in 15 years no one killed a buck though! My son took a doe and had fun with the other kids. They built a heck of a duck blind so we could nap at camp!! I could have taken a buck and some pigs but let him do all shooting. If I need another doe I can go out and be back in half a day but think we are good. Ready to get back out there though.

For me, it's all the experience of getting out into nature and having the chance of harvesting nice animals, not necessarily it happening. Obviously seeing a number and variety of animals passes the time a lot better.
