Blackout has heavily marketed and pushed by the gun industry. The 6.8 and Grendel grew more by word of mouth.
Fully agree with this comment............ever heard of snake oil ??? It's not snake oil if it works.

Fully agree with this comment............ever heard of snake oil ??? It's not snake oil if it works. It's a great round for what it was designed for, as a replacement platform for the MP5. The subsonic loads are much better than 9mm and the supersonic loads are pretty good for the case capacity. It's just the fanatics and the industry that overhyped it's performance as a hunting round.

I disagree with it's performance as a hunting round being overhyped. Mine has killed hundreds of pigs under 200 yrds with no issues, and it's gonna keep on killin'. With that being said, I also love the 6.8 SPC.

What round was supposed to replace mp5 platform? 6.8? Because it’s development was to replace 5.56 in the M16/M4 platform.

SR025,
I was referring to the Blackout being a replacement for the MP5 with subsonic loads.
The 6.8 was developed to replace the 5.56 in the M4 as you stated. I love the 6.8. I have 3. I have buddy that bought a blackout and would whip my arse on every conversation for 2 years telling me how great it was even though he never shot anything with it.

The 6.8 is here to stay. Great round for deer and hogs. I also have 3. 16", 18" and 20" barrels. The 18" is my favorite.
God bless John Wayne!
