I just found out that our youngest grandchild (15 year old girl) is on her first DATE. Got to tell ya, life is moving way too fast for my comfort.

She’s a freshman and out with a senior - roller skating. I never met the boy, but I sure don’t trust him. I know what he’s thinking and it’s the same thing you and I were thinking. And that ain’t good.

Back when our daughters had the neighborhood boys and boyfriends over to swim in the backyard pool, the guys would change their clothes in the study. I had a weight bench in there and would leave a pistol silhouette target (full of holes) on the bench. That won’t work with the SiL, because he will not shoot a pistol. Never has, though I don’t really know why. He’s kind of a wuss, but a nice fellow. The other SiL shoots, and is finally no longer the world’s worst shot.

Back between one daughter's serious boyfriends, a guy she knew at TLU called. She hung up then told me that he wanted to come over and get in our hot tub. It was 10 o'clock. He lived around Seguin. We live between Boerne and San Antonio. I told her, simply, that he just wanted to get in her pants. Just like that. She told him "no". He was a welder that was going to college because his mother wanted him to. He told her that. Brilliant boy. He later went on to get a waitress pregnant. And the wheels on the bus go round and round. I'm very thankful for the relationship I have with that daughter.

And, as far as my two granddaughters go...they're never gonna date any stinky boys.

Who gave her permission to go? That's where the mistake is at.
Had our niece tell us she was an ADULT, she is only 18, according to the law. I told she is still just a kid. She got mad and hasn't talk to me in 8 months. Oh well sh!t happens.

My daughter is 6 and I totally agree.

When do I start teaching her to beat some boy's azz?

My dad always talked about when my sister turned 9.
He said "she's half way to 18"

603, you're darn right we know what he's thinking! Same thing I'd have thought in the same situation back then,

The years seem to move faster as the world gets more busy and I get older. I went to a small school where it was considered faux pas for any senior to date a freshmen. I know that is not the norm, but man there is a big difference between 14 and 17-18 years of age imo. Three years of difference after 20 isn't anything, but those early ones can be pretty impressionable.

I have teenage daughters and all you have to do is talk to the boys.

That scares them more than anything else.

Very wise words. And nowadays, a 14 year old girl can "meet" some 18-20 year old loser guy on the internet and he can "reel her in" a long ways without the parents even knowing about it. And a very nasty, borderline assault/rape type thing can develop. 'Happened in my neighborhood.

You young daddies be thinking now about the "social media" rules you're gonna lay down for your girls. I don't envy your position. Texting wasn't even a thing when my 3 girls were dating.

As soon as they get a driver's license, that’s it.

Funny thing about getting older:

This was back in 04’ or 05’ but my stepdad went out around 3am one morning to smoke a cig on the back porch. Saw a shadow on the barn light and walked over to see if it was one of the cats or something.

Sister and her friend haul arse into the woods ( 16 or 17 years old ) followed by two 22-25 year old guys making for there car parked up by the front gate.

They met online somehow and brought them a 6 pack of bartles and James in hopes of good times

I grew up in a similar small town. Seniors and even juniors wanted nothing to do with lowly sophomores and certainly not some kid freshman...

I did find out that my SiL did have a talk with the young man prior to the date. The young man brought a big red rose for her, so that was well received.

I haven’t had the post-date debrief yet.

You guys with the 6 month and 6 year old daughters make me smile. You have sooooo much to go through. Be strong....
