Is your primary care doctor male or female?

If you are referred to a specialist do you request male or female? Or do you even care?

I'm in the deer stand and bored. Someone talk to me.

My primary doctor is male.
Specialist I have no preference either way. I just tell Doc to send me to the best in network provider and call it good.

If you care whether your doc is male or female, does it matter if they are white, black, yellow, or brown?

What about Muslim or Jewish or Christian?

Once you go down a rabbit hole it connects to a whole lot of other paths

Primary care is a seasoned white male. My goto for physicals.

His PA is a young female. She is well educated, but nothing trumps experience.

No specialist.

Primary Care is male, who the cardiologist referred me to. Some of the specialists are male others female. As long as they know what they are doing it doesn't matter to me,

As long as they speak English and know how to be a doctor I don't care. Probably the best family care type doctor I ever had was a Hindu woman at Care Now.

My doctor understands me completely. I have a hospital room that I can check into for a few days just to relax

I have had patients who have asked when I say I am referring you to dr x, is he Muslim, and rarely have said is there anyone else to send to. No joke. Sad that this kind of mentality is still out there, but it happens. Where I live there isn’t a large Jewish population, but I have heard of some folks screening doctors names due to Jewish or Muslim sounding names.

I just want someone who speaks good intelligible English. Other than that, I don’t care except for skill. Don’t give me a BS’er nor a nincompoop. The good thing I know better since I am in the industry.

This is what I prefer, but I guess I don’t really care. My old primary care doctor shoveled me off to a new, young female doctor he staffed when I didn’t go for a few years in my early 30s. It wasn’t her gender that bothered me, she just sucked as a doctor.

When I dislocated my foot, I wouldn’t have cared if my specialist was male or female. I just wanted the best, and I got him.

My PCP is a male but I just go see my mother-in-law for most things. Never put much thought into the gender of a care provider.

On a similar note, I was having GI issues in college and my PCP was on vacation and some old grizzled doctor was filling in for him. He asked if in had had my prostate checked and I informed him that I had not. He asked that I drop my pants and face the exam table. Innocent 19 year old me obliged. Boy was I in for a shocker...

I got past that at my age. PCP is younger female, and attractive, but she asked if I wanted to go to a urologist, just because it'd been a while since I'd had "the exam", or, I could just drop my pants and she'd do it. It'd been a while since any girl , other than my wife (and it's been a while since she did frown ), has asked me to take my pants off, so I figured "what the hell, I have no more pride when it comes to my privates. Of course, she has to ask her snaggle-tooth female assistant to "witness", so I have now dropped my pants in front of two strange women.

Saved a trip to the urologist to boot. up

I wouldn't have one around me.............so I'm a sad mentality.

Female. Haven't seen her in over two years.

My primary is male and also a good friend since college. Other docs are mixed, gender wise. My urologist is a gal...that seemed awkward at first but she’s been great.
No issues with male or female docs...
I do have issues with the ones that don’t speak English that I can’t understand so they get run pdq

I've had a mix of male and female primary's over the years and really don't care either way. My latest PCP is a female and is one of the best doctors I've ever had. Unlike many of the doctors I've seen over the past few years, she actually takes the time to talk to you and is very thorough when you see her. She also knows how to give me just enough crap so that it's informative, but doesn't feel like she is lecturing or harping. The best part is that she is relatively on-time and doesn't make me wait an hour in the waiting room. There is nothing is worse than waiting an hour to see someone and then they rush you in and out of the room in 10 minutes. We've changed doctors several times when we get someone that makes us wait an extended period of time and then rushes us out the door because they are over-scheduled.

Thanks,
Rich
