6.8, Is this normal for gas to discolor shells in magazine after a few shots. Thought it might be because of a dirty gun, but I cleaned it pretty well and it still happened again after I put new shells in. Gun is Rock River. Should there be a concern that something is wrong?

Yes. I cannot remember if it was like this before suppressed or not. Only had suppressor since mid Nov. with about 40-50 down range

Suppressors make actions, bolts, and ammo filthy. Just the way it is.

If you are ejecting at 3 to 4 o'clock, your gas is just right. If you are forward of 3 o'clock, you might have too much gas coming to the bolt.

I've noticed a stronger smell to, but that may have been cuz I got up too close looking through thermal

You need an adjustable gas block or tune your buffer weight/spring combo. I lean toward the gas block. I've used Odin and Superlative and recently bought a Seekins to try. So far....I like the Superlative the best, even before using the Seekins, I'm going to like the Superlative better because the adjustment system. Soon as you put the suppressor on you over gassed the system, there is 6 gas block clicks between those on my 16" Hamr.

They get so dirty there's reliable cycle issues. I like simple things that I can rely on, so I use bolt and single shot guns for cans. They still get dirty but always function. Those who want to chase the gremlins until they get something reliable, more power to them. It's just not for me.

I get what you're saying, I really do. Historically AR's and I don't jive. However, I paid attention to the few guys around here that know them well. And, I've watched them in my hands, as well as people I am spotting for. And my number one takeaway is LUBRICATION. Ya gotta keep the BCG and action very wet with oil. So, having said that, again going off the guys that use them more than me, the homemade potion of 75% Mobile-1 5W20 and 25% ATF has served me very well. Now, admittedly after lots of rounds on the range, or lots of rounds into a sounder of hogs, I pull the bolt, wipe it all off, reoil, and reassemble. Since those steps have been performed the last few years, I've had almost no break downs, and this is shooting suppressed.

I call AR's female rifles, they are finicky and require more attention, but we gotta have em.

Run hundreds of rounds through my Suppressed AR-10 and have not had any issues. SLR adjustable gas block, Heavy JP VMOS BCG with Heavy SCS and some Go Juice cures the gremlins. JP VMOS systems are also tunable so you may be able to get away with the lighter setup. They're super slick and very easy to clean. A bit pricey but works every time.
