New rifle project is a success!
Tikka superlight in 7 mag dropped into a McMillan carbon game scout stock

Didn't have anything larger than 308, 6.5 Creedmoor and 7mm08 for bolt action rifles and have been wanting to put something together that was capable of larger stuck like Elk (yes, I know any of my other rifles will work) or Nilgai and also wanted a very lightweight rifle. Decided on the 7 mag due to the versatility of light, fast and flat with 140g bullets up to 175s for bigger stuff.

Pleasantly surprised at the lack of recoil with the initial 162 ELDX load and it grouped about a 1/2", grabbed a 175g round it it impacted the same and I really couldn't feel a difference in recoil. Shot a few of the lighter lights as well, pretty much all of them impacted within a 1/4" of the others.

Good enough to go hunt for sure
Went out and did a few quick tests to verify data, using Hornady's app and published data for the 162 ELDX I shot two quick shots at 325 into about an inch and then moved to another spot on the lease and busted two fist sized rocks at 433 with a gusting 10mph crosswind on Saturday. Good enough to hunt with. Later that evening busted a doe at 300 yards, 162 ELDX impacted perfectly behind shoulder and exited ribs slightly farther back with a good 1.5" exit hole.

Yeah, I like it
Ready to go do some serious range time and hopefully the Nilgai cow hunt comes through in the next month or so
Hopefully get to into some Elk country in 2020

We have had good luck with the 162's on elk in 7mm mag and the 7mm SAUM...... and I hope you catch the vandals that rattle canned your vehicle. cheers

threaded 1/2x28 and using a 1/2x28 direct thread mount and a bore plenty big
basically, imagine a brake with the actual brake section cut off

they don't offer them any more it looks like
