I used to go a lot 50 years ago when the mob ran Vegas. It was a better, safer place then.

We’ve been several times always had a good time. We’re not big gamblers at all so just a few slots here and there. We stayed at Treasure Island last time we went, it was nice had a view of the strip. Only complaint I had was it was a little far down the strip. We’re going next week and staying at the Flamingo simply because of its location on the strip. Go see Hoover dam it’s worth it. We just do a few shows and people watch.

My wife and I have been several times. I enjoy it she not as much. Wear comfortable shoes. Everything looks close on a map but the building or so big you will walk miles trying to see it all. We have watched the Absinthe show three times. It is a great show and hilarious. It is very un P.C. and a little raunchy. They will make fun of everyone and the acts are very talented. La Reve is an amazing show and worth seeing in my opinion. Last time we went we rented a convertible for the whole time we were there. Red Rock Canyon was nice if you want to get out of town and Hoover Dam was cool. The Wynn, Venetian and Palazzo will have awesome Christmas displays worth seeing when you are there

I don't know if we'll go back at some point or not. We certainly didn't have enough time to see everything we'd have like to seen.

Treasure Island was meh. Definitely won't stay there if we go back. I got them to comp us to an upgraded very end (so it was on the corner of the building with two windows instead of one) room overlooking the strip. Great view. It was newly remodeled and was just "ok." Hotel is pretty old in general and needs updating. They comped us two free buffet passes as well - so since it was free we ate there once. Terrible. Cocktail service on the casino floor sucked. Waitress were all over 50 and looked like they'd all ingested a few pounds of cocaine in their lifetimes. Parking was free so that was nice.

The main the thing the wife wanted to see was the Zak Bagans Haunted Museum - I thought it was going to be pretty cheesy, but it wasn't bad at all. Lots of creepy but neat collection of oddities.

Linq High Roller was pretty cool - for like $10 more you could do the all you can drink pass - bartender hustled and we definitely got our moneys worth. Good views too right at sunset.

Saw the fountains at the Bellagio, meh, volcano show at the mirage, meh. Had free tickets to the secret garden at the mirage so we went and saw the lions, tigers, and dolphins. Gambled a little at the Mirage - definitely much better drink service there.

Fremont Street was definitely worth the people watching. Christmas decorations at the Wynn and Venetian were cool.

Buffet at the Wynn was pretty good.

Did a lot of walking (14 miles on Saturday and about 16 on Sunday) and drinking while people watching.

All in all it was alright....but I think we're more of beach or mountains type people. Just wasn't our thing.

We go down for the NFR each and every year. During that time, the people are different. Lots of hats, people holding the door open for you and such.

We always stay at the Rush Tower in the Nugget. It's nice and the immediate access to Fremont is, well, entertaining. I am all in with the people watching.

Gotta love Hugo's Cellar in the basement of the Four Queens - it was quite the surprise when we were "turned on" to it and get by there every time now. That place isn't cheap, but we do feel spoiled there.

Breakfast at the Hash House A Go Go in the Plaza.

Just check out the occupants. That's all the entertainment you could ask for.

Las Vegas sucks now of days, way too expenive and they have turned it into a tourist trap.

Plus this time of year the weather can suck there as well, it was cold there last week same temps as Dallas.

Tourist trap was the whole point from day one when outside money developed the town. You do not really think pro gamblers need the glitz. Just choose the era you liked going there and now bemoan it's loss.

Never cared for it, even when a professional musician could make a decent living there. Now it's all prerecorded crap. It's always been a tacky hang out.

It sure was.

I think now of days MGM own like half the hotels in Las Vegas. Resort fees, roped off areas to walk and they make you walk one way. It's like Disneyland now of days

I remember we used to fly into Las Vegas for a few days, rent a limo and go visit casinos and have a great time, you could get Prime Rib dinner and show for like $9.99. Any casino would furnish you with a pack of cigarettes and about anything you needed if you were spending money there.

Las Vegas was a 3.5 hour drive from my home CA, in the 1970s. Gas was cheap, so we had a lot of cheap fun and good food there - won some money, lost some money but nothing radical. It seemed like there was always a show to see or a concert to attend. We gradually got burned out by the mid1980s and just don't have any real interesting in going back.

A Democracy is when two wolves and a lamb vote on the dinner menu. That is why this country was specifically not designed as a Democracy. We are a Constitutional Republic.
