Just wondering if anyone else has been having issues sending cash in birthday or holiday cards through the postal service? Yes, I know it’s a risk from the get go but I’ve been doing it for many many years without any issue whatsoever. The last TWO years have been a disaster. About a third or more of the cards I’ve sent the last two years to grandkids and others with money in em never arrived at there destinations . I never send flashy cards like Hallmark and others with money in em....just plain Jane cards.

tell me about it, never mind dont. Same story here. These companies dont hold their employees accountable and what little they do the employees know how to scam the system. I will say usps seem to be that their employees have a little more skin in the game and will do a better job. The thieves have shipping and deliveries lock.

I put cash in a small flat rate box and insure them for double the amount. You get a free fifty dollar insurance with the box and you can add more for a small amount of money.

I've had a couple of gift cards go missing. my postmaster told me not to send them in the mail, it's too easy to feel them inside the envelope-even if they are inside a card.

If the 2nd amendment was written just to include guns for hunting, why is there not an amendment to protect fishing poles?

I had a guy that needed to pay me $350, I asked for a check because I don’t do Venmo or PayPal. I guess he didn’t have a check book, so he said he’d mail $350 in cash. I told him that may not be a good idea, he didn’t seem too worried. My service is pretty sketchy sometimes.
Thank goodness the cash made it to my mailbox.

That sounds like a pretty good plan.

Seems I am not the only one that has this problem. The employer I retired from mailed my insurance renewal paperwork and it too almost 2 months to get from Kingsport Tn to Longview Tx.

Someone broke into the mailbox here. People started making reports of having their checks altered to show a greater amount.

I would say the opposite, it’s easier to steal from USPS than any other carrier. An envelope shipped in a mail tote with thousands of other letters is easy to put in your pocket and will go unnoticed. Ship in a box as some have suggested or a FedEx/UPS envelope that will be scanned and show it’s last destination and even down to the container it was placed into. It should also show the employees number who scanned and loaded the container. Also I’ve found numerous USPS envelopes that fall out of bags and totes onto the ramp. Thieves will be thieves no matter who they work for.

Has anyone actually been paid USPS insurance money for the loss of "cash"?

I had an LPK & trigger parts get lost in a small flat rate box and it took FOREVER (4 months) to get paid. I also had to provide proof on what was shipped.

This wouldn't be for your typical gift or preferred payment method, but if you ever need to get cash to somebody fairly instantly Walmart has a service. You can send cash Walmart to Walmart. The fee isn't real low, but not too bad. As the sender you give very little info on a one page form. The receiver has a collection number and goes to Walmart for the cash. It's fast.
