Loaded up some supersonic 300BO. 110g over H110. Have them coming out at 2450. Was somewhat skeptical of the knockdown power. Boy was I wrong. I downed a great 10pt down in Bee County at 250 yards. Neck shot. Was DRT. Next day 8 pt at about 120 yards. Same neck shot. Never took a step. This round was very accurate and more than took care of business. I can recommend it.

The Blackout is another whole cartridge with that bullet. Soft shooting and deadly.

One shot is all it should take.

100% agree! I hunted with it for 4-5 years. It's more than adequate if you can shoot straight. It killed everything I shot it, and did it well.

And interestingly. On mine I was running subs with the 208g Hornady. Retooled this for my 14 year old daughter to hunt with, with supers. Zeroed at 100 with supers the subs are exactly 10 inches low with virtually no difference in windage. Was not expecting that. At range I just swapped magazines to subs and would go 10 high on the target and was banging it out. Was a nice surprise. Now carry mags of both and when want to let fly sub just try and compensate.

Yes, changing from supers to subs, you generally have about a 9" to 12" POI shift low. So your 10" is exactly spot on.

Good to know. I shoot 120 gr SST from the man above and been very happy with the results. Velocity is similar I believe. Was wondering drop at 200 if zero is 100?

An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.

Should be about 7" drop at 200 yards with a 100 yard zero. Thanks!!

I got a wild hair about 20 years ago and had the Thompson Center Custom Shop build me a .300 Whisper barrel for my Encore frame. Went with a 12" heavy barrel in stainless. The only "factory" ammo for that round at the time was Cor-Bon. I shot a bunch of deer with that 150 grain load and put all of them in the freezer.

I do not understand why people say the Blackout is a bad round. It is an almost identical clone of the Whisper, and the Whisper never failed me. I took prudent pistol shots (100 yards and under) and did not try to exceed either my capabilities or the round's range. Most deer were DRT. I can only think of one buck that made it about 50 yards after the shot, and a blind man could have followed the blood trail.

I like it so much I just finished an AR build in .300 Blackout with a Wilson Combat barrel. Cannot wait to send some of Chad's 125 grain bullets through some piggies and deer.
